320d M Sport - Voice Command Issues

Hi Everyone,Picked my 320d M Sport a few days ago. All is well with the exception of one nagging issue - I can't seem to get the Voice Command to work. I was under the impression that this feature was included as I had seen it being used in a colleague's 320d Sport. Does anybody else have this issue? Would appreciate the feedback.Thanks!

You pressed too hard bro. Be gentle and hopefully she would speak to you again. Hahaha just kidding. I think your car may not come with voice command after all. Check with your dealer to confirm.

That's really strange though. A colleague who drives a 320d Sports has it, it's really strange if that's an omitted feature in the M-Sports version. It's annoying to have have a labelled button that doesn't do anything. Seek clarification the next time I wheel it in to the service centre I suppose.

IMHO the voice command for Malaysia model is useless. Unlike in Europe, we don't get the full function of the voice command due to the limited function of our iDrive. In addition the voice command always get it wrong due to our Malaysia slang. So, at the end I just stop using it altogether. Something like Siri in iPhone.

It could be just an oversight by the dealership. If I am not mistaken, voice command is just a coded activation.

Btw have you used Siri lately? It has really improved and I have been using it to set alarms and reminders and appointments

Oh really? I have not been using Siri for a long time now. Maybe I should give Siri another chance.

BMW Live works with iOS7 and Office works with iOS7, works great to read out my text messages on the go.

Make sure you switch on Personal Hotspot in your phone setting.

Ok...this just got interesting. I've been trying to connect my iphone 5 with iOS 7 to the car but no luck thus far. I'm away at the moment - so will definitely try this out when I get back to it.

No problem, connect both my Iphone 5 and 5s at the same time to the car.

Bluetooth music and voice control works like a charm .

To actually call someone, i always use this combination

Call XYZ

Dont bother with the BMW live bullshit, by the time the weather comes up, I would have asked Siri for the weather in KL already

I see, didn't know I needed to turn on personal hotspot for BMW Live to work. Will definitely try it out later.

But I can testify to the bluetooth music and voice control stuff - works wonders without a cable attached and yes iPhone 5 with iOS7 works well so far.

oh to add, I can also get SMS working, but I can't get it to read out SMSes. How do you get that to work?

I also got emails to work once, i had to force quit the email app in my iPhone 5, and even then the emails would show up in the SMS folder.

I think if your voice command is not working, then the reading of SMS or email will not function as well. It's of the same voice system.

I followed what they mention and got my car to read my incoming SMS. You need to press the play button then only the system will read it. It isn't automatic.

This is kinda frustrating, gonna attempt at an alternative dealer and see if I could get a more definitive explanation to my little (but extremely annoying) predicament.

Managed to wheel in my car earlier today - to an alternative branch of my dealer... they suspected it was a coding issue and suggested I leave the car for reprogramming - which was gonna take 4 - 6 hours. Didn't have the chance so I'm making an appointment to do it at a more convenient time. Will keep you guys posted.
