I've been driving japanese cars all the while, its time to move to continental.

528i are much older, their production from 1995 to 1998 M52B28 engine (single vanos). The roadtax high and maintenance high as well.

525i production from 2001 to 2003 M54B25 double vanos engine the local specs model. Road tax and maintenance on the medium side.

I second that. Plus, the m54b25 power output is equivalent to the m52b28 , and at a lower displacement.
