Why E90 325i?

Yes probably true, more fuel is needed to control NOx emissions on typical DI engines during their stratified lean burn process. But HPI engines _can_ run on non sulphur free fuels, and BMW has to tweak the engine/map to allow for sufficient thermodynamic efficiency. Hence we have the 335i, 740i etc here locally.

VW/Audi has a solution for their DI engines and non sulphur free fuels...

"One of the previous problems engineers have had with stratified-charge technology has been high nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions, due to the excess of air. In Audi's FSI engine, this has been controlled by a new exhaust gas recirculation system, and total NOx emissions are cut by up to 70%. Up to 35% of the total exhaust gas is diverted back up into the combustion chamber - effectively sent back to be ignited again. This system works in conjunction with twin catalytic converters, containing NOx sensors, which convert the oxides back into harmless nitrogen gas, as present in the atmosphere naturally."

BMW can at least follow their footsteps and introduce mass market DI engine lineups to us consumers... I sometimes wish BMW leads and VW/Audi follows, but lately this is not the case..

eh... but I thought that the Audi experience should be memorable??? Perhaps the guy was new! can't blame him for lack of proper knowledge.

Yes, indeed it was memorable for me.

If fun is your factor get a 325 sports..and it is not bumpy at all at least for me..but the high speed cornering even a cayenne has pulled off during a road depression while he were tailgating me at 220km/h..but then the cayenne centre of gravity is high lar..

if you travel frequent get a 320d with its superb consumption and decent power..

anyway if you want something different and plenty of option for performance upgrade go for the A4 but makesure u get the quattro..Golf MK6 is raw and for single guys or maybe as a second car..love the DSG till today..

many people had gone through the same dilemma, the best person to answer your question is YOU! test drive all till u decide..

Some people test drive many times..... more or less same car, at different dealerships.....

I always thought the Audi's DRLs looked a bit feminine.....lady's curving down eye-lashes....really not a tough guy's fierce eye brow glare, is it?...even by a far stretch of the imagination. The E90 looks the part..down to a pat. Get it in white...timeless colour...doesnt seem to age....saw a few E46s in white and they still look cool! BMW or nothing! Once a bimmer driver, always a bimmer driver....and that's a warning actually. So, maybe get your Audi and drive around town for a few years before the BMW does a Pavlovian conditioning on you.....

I swear by the 320d (the forumers know that...ha ha)...and it'll make sense if you are counting your sens. The diesel's ok lah and it only gets better very soon! Don't wait 9 years to service that loan before waiting for the Euro 4 to come in. Start living now! Get out of that MPV bro!!!

To me it just depends on what you are looking for.

Golf GTI: It's a great car no doubt about that, but for a family car I don't think it's a good idea.
It's a smaller car so less room in the back and boot, won't feel as safe as the bigger cars and won't
be as comfortable especially on long journeys. I haven't driven this, so I can't really comment on
the ride quality.

Audi A4 Quattro: I've driven this and it's a great car too. Pity I didn't really tested it to the max because it
was my friend's car and I was helping him run a quick errand. Since it's a 4wd car it should
be better on wet roads.

BMW325i M-Sport: Definately feels firm compared to Audi. I'm not sure about you guys, but over here my
1st service is at 10k km and my next would be at 15k km. Which works for me because I
would prefer them to do so even if they didn't.

Personal taste between Audi vs BMW:
Forgive me for this upcoming part because I've made my decision and got a BMW.
In terms of looks I agree with docrayboy. I prefer the looks of the BMW mainly because of the headlights reflects a fierce looking eyes rather than Audi's DRL looking like tears rolling down from them. If it's on the top of the headlight n the other hand, with a proper shape, then it'll look like a fierce eyebrow.
For the dashboard it does look simple on the BMW. But as a personal taste, most new dashboards are too complicated for me. There's too many equipments on a car and thus too many buttons on a dashboard. Which makes it impossible to remember what is what to drive and not look at the dash while you are driving. The iDrive eliminates most of the buttons giving it a simple look. The screen is on top of the dash so you don't need to look too far down while you are driving.
With the iDrive you can save in 13gig of songs. If I'm not wrong. So you won't need a CD changer.
Furthermore I don't know what I'll do without the iDrive's GPS. Previously I won't even dare to drive into Singapore without a friend who knows the way, now, I'm travelling in there to places I've never even been before.

Suggestions:
Please try the iDrive before you compare with other car's equipments.
Use the steptronic's modes, drive, sport and manual. Then compare it with Audi's different modes.
If you want more comfort test drive the 323i.
If you want a more economical run, go for the diesel. But you'll have to wait for the 325d in order to have iDrive cause the 320d doesn't. That's the reason why I pick 325i over 320i.
If you really want the M-Sport but less bumpiness, change the RFT to normal tires like the other forumers said. Maybe get one of theirs to try 1st. :D

I appologize for this long essay to everyone. I hoped it helped even a little bit. Happy hunting and hope you'll get the car you'll love.

VKS, Thanks for your valuable opinion. I don't mod my cars. The addiction to more power is never ending but I have the highest respect for the member's enthusiasm for MORE power!
Diesel will only consider when we have EURO4.

Thanks docrayboy for your input. Will put off diesel until we have EURO4. MPV would be a weekend drive.

Thanks oryganli. Maybe the A4Q is good on wet, but why risk driving so fast in such wet conditions?

Anyway, thanks to all of your valuable input. The AB sales is coming over today to collect the deposit to lock the interest rate. Will update later.

Thanks again, hope to join you guys for outing soon.
