I still have currency used during the Japanese occupation-they used to call the banana money. Also coins and stamps from before our independence. The Straits Settlement coins. My mum used to buy First Day covers or issues of new stamps from the post office and I still have them.

Then again, I have keep all my toy cars (the metal ones) from Korgy Toys some small lastic soldiers where you buy them in a "sheet" where all the soldiers are attached together. You'd havee to cut them appart. My fav is the sniper.

Collected model planes and warships to...those you glue together with Affix. The Germain ME109s, the Jap Zero's and the American Thunderbirds.
Also collected ciggarette boxes, Torchlight, Abdullah 37, Rough Rider, Rothmans Pall Mall and 555

Take picture and post lah...

any one still collecting stamps??!
i remembered my elder brother's stamp collection - it was a thing of wonder for us kampung folks - stamps from around the world...hehehe.

i also remembered my very first "non-baby" bicycle - a bright red Raleigh Roamer, I was 11 then :) ... and then another bright red Raleigh Racer 2 years later. Now, at work, I represent the family who brought in the Raleigh bicycles in Malaysia since 1930s! hehehe.
Getting the bicycles were as exciting as getting a new car then, I washed my bicycle for the first few weeks as with my new cars... and then .. oh well...

I remember the Morris Minor, the signal light literally comes out from the side one, from the panel that separates the front and back doors....like a hand sticking out.

As a matter of curiosity, what kind of books/comics did you read/collect as a kid/teen?

Like many kids, I started with Enid Blyton - the Noddy, Faraway Tree, Naughtiest Girl (no, it's not porn!), Secret Seven & Famous Five series.
My most memorable all time favourite until today is The Hobbit by Tolkien.
I also remember Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, Trixie Belden series by Julie Campbell, Louisa May Alcott's Little Women and its sequels and all the Anne of Green Gables books.

As a teenager, I graduated to reading the Star Wars series, Tolkien'sLord of the Rings, David Gemmel and David Eddings fantasy series. Yes, i read some Mills and Boons.

Guess these are the type of books girls read! (before the days of Sweet Valley High, beverly 90210 etc.). Yes, I was a book worm and still is one.

With my brothers, we also had Marvel comics, Archie, Dennis the Menace, Beano, Dandy, Desperate Dan,... yes, Asterix and Tin Tin series!

What did you guys read? Er..did you guys read?

Was a regular at the Mind Shop... at the age of 12 i was already owing them money for not collecting comics i booked!!! Thank goodness mom was around to bail me out. Nowadays it's "go look for your own money!!!"

Marvel's Spidey (especially McFarlane's period) was on top of the list followed by Wolvie... DC side i was hooked on Batman... Then Image came along and Spawn was hot... somewhere along that line, i quit.

Enid Blyton was standard issue. Book wise, i was into Robotech stuff... Enid Blyton was standard issue.

That's all i can think of now... it's 6.30am and i still haven't slept since the 3er gathering!!!

Just as Nik mentioned, Enid Blyton was "standard issue" ...i guess this would be so for most ppl too as parents try to instill in us a "reading culture" from a young age.
I wasn't much of a reader though....was into comics and mags, started off with ....Dennis the Menace then very quickly progressed to the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Hulk
Later on i was hooked on the MAD magazine, with Spy vs Spy...i guess some of you guys know what im refering to.
Motorcycle mags, Bikes, Cycleworld, etc
Then came LAT our own kampong boy with his so down to earth drawings and stories of our daily Malaysian lives.

I din read much in the early days, I remembered I finished Hikayat Hang Tuah and also tried reading some old Malays Literature (those with Hindu Influence). Well, I read more during high school especially with the easy supply of Penthouse :) YES THIS IS WHAT REAL BOYZ READ!! :D

I had a collection of comics, mav fav being 2000AD, this is where Judge Dredd originated from.
