I agree, maintaining "solid" color is a nightmare. Regretting since the day i got my other cars.

Unless you are retire and enjoy polishing whole day.
Otherwise, go for metallic black!!

checkup the latest merc. metallic black...nice.. :D

The Glasurit is probably a little costlier... honestly can't tell the diff between the 2 coz, they are diff colours.
But another important aspect ( which I have recently learnt after the fact) is the quality of the clear coat and it's mixture, and application technique.....

Soild black is really difficult to maintain.... swirls and scratches show up really easily, not to mention the dust!
But, it looks soooo much better than the Diamond Black...

If you rajin to take care of it like an obssesive kiasu parent, then by all means... It looks killer!

Good luck!

For your inspiration...... here's a shot of the reflection on the solid black!
You can't do that on the Diamond black.... hehehe!

  You are b*llsh*tt*ing me when you say that the pic is the reflection from your car.... rite...??!....

pure black... by Dupont (no mixture at all)

What do you exactly mean by "NO MIXTURE"...?

the quality of the clear coat and it's mixture, and application technique.....

So what do I tell the paint shop?? Do I just specify the colour? or do I need to explicitly say I want what type of clear coat....?

Also what application technique is there?

Just one more question...  Where did you get you paintwork done and how much?

No BS.... that's the side of my car!

No mixture meaning: Pure black only... no other elements, like pearl or mica or other colourations.

Depending on the budget......
It can range from 2.5k to 5k.....

Mine is the cheaper one, but if I had to do it all again.........
Go see Darren at Autodetailers.... he has very good painters, but it will cost you!
As for techniques and mixes, I am not qualified to give you details but he can.
All I know is if you get it wrong, it sucks!
You can email or PM me for more details.
Cheers!

Wow!!  Now that is a nice paint job....

What difference would the budget make? They paint more coats?

Actually, it's not that good... just looks better in pictures! A good sanding down and it will be even better!

I guess a more expensive job would entail better quality materials, more careful control of the mixtures and better technique in the actual spraying and finishing. And one would hope more care in stripping down the car and putting it back together without drama!
