I've been told the ori M-sport II suspension on an E39 is actually Sachs Super Touring, I have seen the label on my ori one and it does say Sachs. I'm replacing mine with the Super Touring for all 4 sides.

What's the damage?

rg470,

I installed Eibach ARB for my e39 for RM 2,400 c/w installation at Hakamotor, Batu Caves Industrial Park. Believe for e46 same price as e39. As for pro-kit, about RM 1,300.

Loh,

Since you are traveling quite a lot on highway, install Eibach ARB and you would feel a world of difference in terms of high speed stability and taking corners.

Herbert, what is the size of the ARB u have got? Is that the replacement for stabiliser bar for both front and rear? i have check the size of the M-sports stabiliser bars are 24mm dia. for front and 15mm for rear.

Eibach ARB are 27mm front and 18mm rears.

Hello Haywire and Herbert,

Is the Eibach ARB worth the upgrade over the M-sports as is there a lot of difference compared to the Msports original bar? What about ride harshness ?

Loh,

Msports ori ARB is 24 mm front and 15 mm rear whereas Eibach is 27 mm and 18 mm respectively. A 3 mm (front & rear) make lots of difference. A fellow OM recently replaced his e39 M5 ori ARB (27 mm front & 15 or 18 mm rear) with Eibach ARB 28 mm front (can't remember what's the rear ... mm). According to him, the 1 mm different is very significant in terms of ride stability.

As for ride harshness, nothing to do with Eibach ARB. Ride harshness will be determine by your type of absorbers.

Brader,

This is not racun but merely from experienced using it. Good things must share with our fellow braders.

I wanted to improve my ride stability. Some friends suggested bigger & staggered rims, B8/B12 asborbers, monotube absorbers, M sports setup and etc etc. Finally I narrowed down to ARB. Initially I was also quite skeptical paying RM2,400 for Eibach ARB and how it can improve my ride. Some friends even commented why pay so much for 2 pcs of red iron rod !! I researched and obtained quite a fair bit of ARB info from the web and other BMW forums but i still wasn't convinced until Albundy & Kester (BMW Advance Training certified instructors) explained and shared with me their experiences on ARB. This RM2,400 is the best investment I have made for my ride.

Bro Herbert,
What about local maker (Ultra Racing)? quoted RM1.6k for ARB front and rear with installation. And was informed by a friend that ARB can have a significant impact on the camber if travelling on a rough surface/potholes, betul ka?

Skarl,

To answer your questions, you can obtain more from Eibach website here. http://performance-suspension.eibach.de/cms/products_products_stabilizer_bars_anti_roll_kit

Eibach ARB is manufactured from cold-formed, high-strength aircraft-grade steel for precision performance, and finished with a longlasting red powder coat finish.

As for Ultra Racing (local made), I really don't have much info other than what is published in their website and advertisment in car magazine.

End of the day, comparision boils down to reputation, research & development, quality and material used.

dont waste your time looking for Sachs Advantage.
bloody expensive and almost impossible to find in Malaysia and Singapore.

Sachs Touring is yr OEM replacement for your stock absorbers.
Its not meant to be used with lowered springs. Can use but be prepared for it to die soon.

Bilstein and Koni are more easily available but Singapore is so much cheaper.

:4: .. so the Sifu has spoken :top: ....

bro,

I normally bought bilstein b8 in hup shun sunway (big falken sign board, located in front of used car, same row with JFA exhaust).

Always got stock, no need deposit. Lousy alignment work. For alignment you can go to MPS auto or Shah Alam Tyres. Expensive but worth it.

For Sach Advantage try search Ebay. No idea how to get in Malaysia.

Sifu,
Where is MPS or Shah Alam tyres? Any contact?

Turns out I got the front Sachs Advantage, and rear Boge Turbo (same thing, different label) afterall, which is the exact replacement for my M-Sports II suspension. The Sachs Super Touring is actually replacement for normal/non-sport (SE) E39s.

GBP532 (about RM2650) for all four absorbers. Sent from UK to here using my friend's container, so no tax.

Installed the front ones last Saturday, good performance and surprised the guys at Bomin with its performance. No time to install the rears yet, perhaps after raya.

RM 2650 is cheap for sach advangate. i ask ZF quote 4k+. tell us how the ride is. I am quite satisfied with my softer ride now. not so bumpy compared to the B8. go over malaysian road, much comfy. But cornering time.. hmm cannot compare la to B8. Saving up for ARB..

My ride feels like a different car after the replacement. Steering feels very tight, handling is drastically improved. Holding the steering feels very different now. Definitely not bouncy or anything like that. But maybe thats because I changed all the mountings and arms too with the tired absorbers. Bring smiles to my face everytime I'm in the car.

I bought from ZF Services UK, they're on ebay.

You're on Boge now? (based on previous post)
