I have Sachs... OSF, what was the conclusion in choosing Sachs over Bilstein?
pricing, mate :yahoo:

The Sachs Super Touring is almost the same as the Bilstein HD (black), pricewise also almost the same. At that time, Sachs was in stock so I took Sachs.

If you want a sportier ride, then Bilstein Sport (yellow) is the one to go for.

Sachs+APEX are good enough for me now. Will see when the Sachs kaput eventually. As far as comparison with stock shocks/springs is concerned, definitely one nouch ahead. I tried a e46-328 w/ stock shock/spring and felt enough body roll on a descending bend whereas the e34 w/ above combinations went thru as if it's a straight road...:D Both w/ low profile tires.

535i, Bilstein yellow needs to be ordered in advance, from Germany? I thought there should be enough demand locally.

I hv been looking for it - KL and SG .. Cannot find ..
Unless u know where I can get it ...

the bilstein yellows are known as B8 for lowered sport with inverted shaft.. super-duper handling..nothing beats it..

The B8 is definitely superb on the track, but on our roads the Bilstein Touring will be better compromise for both comfort and performance. Sachs touring is similar to Bilstein touring, 15% stiffer than stock shocks.

I think B8 shocks are available locally...:p

Yup, Bilsteins last quite a while and cost quite a bit too... was quoted RM6k for my car... The high price is due to no stock of Bilsteins for the e23 and only available as special order from Germany.

don't forget to cut (remove) some of the internal bump stop in your front shocks if you get the sports. there are 3 sections of the bump stops. remove 2 of the bottom section. You'll understand what i'm saying when you open it.

if not, it'll get pretty annoying to hit the bump stops on almost every bump/pot hole there is. once remove, teh shock is the bomb but not for those looking for comfy ride. stiff.
