If you like to drive fast...stick with RFTs. Google Tiff Needels's video on his comparison of regular vs RFTs upon sudden deflation at high speed. Dono abt you, but if I'm doin triple digit speeds I wouldn't want to spin if my tyres fail! I've driven RFTs for more than 4 years now, mostly on bridgestone RE050s, very good but noisy. The GY efficientGrip OEMs on my F30 has past 1 year with no issues so far.

I saw the video before and I was so impressed with RFT's advantages. However, since I hit a relatively minor pothole after several months i got my car I have to replace 2 RFTs cost me 3K. Lately, another one damaged without seriously hitting any potholes and it bulged and punctured in the highway. I thought, MAN! these tires are so sensitive and fragile and it was supposed to be tough on roads but I got it wrong and confused. I worried when this thing happens in no where, looking for a replacement would be challenging as not many tyre shops carry similar stocks.

Maybe your batch of tyres are somehow defective...in my experience normal daily drives in klang valley and on our highways have never damaged my RFTs before. RFTs are typically tougher in construction to hold its shape. Might want to complaint to Goodyear and also your dealer.

Pirelli P Zero RFT is much better than GY stock tyres.

I'm on my second set of P Zero. Hit many potholes, so far no damage. I like the firm sidewall and decent grip..:top:

Bro, will the firmer sidewall causes more noise in the cabin? How does it compare to the GY RFT? I have to agree that GY RFT sucks big time. I got mine changed once also due to sidewall damage.

BMW has since changed their OEM RFT to other brands. They have ditched GY RFT.

my take tyre thread and compound more contributor to noise than stiff side wall

Anyone can give comments on Michelin PP3? I know they are quite pricy but how about comparing with other brands?

Bro, do you mean PS3? I think PP3 is for bikes.

PP3 is Pilot Primacy I think. PS3 is Pilot Sport 3.

Personal feedback, don't bother with either if you intend to go fast. Find either Pilot Super Sport (PSS) or Pilot Sports 2 (PS2). Contrary to popular belief, the PS3 does not replace the PS2. The PS2 is still around and probably one of the best that Michelin has produced. Which also explains why Porsche refuses to move from using that model in their car.

Sorry, I meant PS3. It has been reviewed that PS3 has both performance on wet and dry. Kinda balanced out.

Without RFT's I don't even dare to go fast!

I'm neither a super fast driver on highway nor slow on cities. Sometimes, i do enjoy the car's torque when going up to Genting. RFT gives superb safety but worried it will "strike" (bulging issue) again on me only.

Part of my consideration of this tyre (PS3) besides its reputation is the price that the shop offered me.

For that price vs. performance, you're better off getting the cheaper but almost similar tyres from other brands.

Just sharing, another casualty of punctured GY RFT. Been smooth sailing for 25000km but last 3 weeks, one major puncture repairable barely, this morning 2 more puncture unfortunately one of it too close at side wall, unrepairable. All 3 holes in the same tyre and being in a small town no one stock any GY RFT. So! I am now questioning myself and extend to the Beemer sifus here do I replace one GY RFT and risk inconvenient (living in a small town with no ready replacement stock) or swallow the hard pill now and replace all to Michelin Primacy ST3 for easy replacement in the future. I was told I can expect less tyre roar too. I also wonder OEM 225/45 R18 can be replace with 245/45 R18? Cause that's the closest they have to the OEM size.

I replaced my e90s tyres with standard tyres to. Ride has been much smoother. However its a bit too soft. Running Continental CSC5.
Bought an original BMW spare tyre kit from Lim Tayar at TTDI for RM1650. Pretty reasonable as compared to AB who quoted me RM2400.

Yes, CSC5 is used on my dad's Accord. The ride from previous GY improved to much smoother and quieter but a bit soft when taking corners. Glad to hear we share the same experience.

So just came back from a tyre shop. I am being recommended Toyo T1 Sport with stock availability. Michelin Primacy ST3 RM100 more expensive and the tread is softer so I would expect quieter ride.

I'd say RFTs feel nicer for people who love the feel of the road. You can feel everything from the road straight to the steering wheel. But on days that you feel tired or exhausted, RFTs will be the worst thing that could've happen to your car. I personally miss the feel, but non-rfts are better on the wallet and your back.

I have been using RFT's for nearly 6 yrs and I have never had an issue with them. I do go pretty fast so I like the safety issue with RFT's. However most of my experience are with the Continental run flats. I used the Goodyear run flats for about 9 months. Wasnt that happy with the ride. Nw, my CBU came with Continental and they feel good
