As the title says. But some problems may affect all series as well..For me (ranking from most important/common to less crucial/rare ) are:1) MID pixel issues2) Master key with remote especially the diamond type-expensive to duplicate and battery replacement is almost impossible without near-destruction of the key itself (why did BMW make it so hard for people to replace the battery?)3) Power steering leaks-expensive to fix4) Trans.fail.safe error message- scary as it sounds expensive to fix5) No folding wing mirror switches-should be default at least for local specs as Auto Bavaria ones were not cheap during E39 heydays.6)Heavy steering for me maybe not for some (my perdana and my ex-W203 feel a lot lighter)7)Wipers are positioned only for the LHD cars and no provisions made for RHD versions (E39 and E60 only. Not applicable to the F10 and E34)8) Local specs E39 (and most import specs) didn't come with rain sensing wipers/auto headlight and headlamp wash system. All are optional items that I know for the UK specs ones.9) Broken headlight level adjuster inside the headlights itself10) No wing-mirror LED-type indicator or the lack off this feature11) Feel free to add guys...

11) poor durability on fuel pump

12) poor foam quality of cushion seat.

13) Front electric-seat plastic cover breaks easily especially if seats are adjusted a bit higher most of the time.

- They break when I step out of the car with my butt still on the seat! I've broken so many that I gave up in replacing them!

14) AB Malaysia should have brought in stick-shift optioned models.

- Could have saved us (me) $$$ in conversion

But some problems may affect all series as well..

For me (ranking from most important/common to less crucial/rare ) are:
1) MID pixel issues
Can be fixed, once replaced with trouble-free ribbon the problem wont come back. Same with the instrument cluster (high OBC)

2) Master key with remote especially the diamond type-expensive to duplicate and battery replacement is almost impossible without near-destruction of the key itself (why did BMW make it so hard for people to replace the battery?)
Its Malaysia which made it to be so expensive. I got replacement in UK at GBP103, about RM500 only which I think is reasonable. BMW wants us to change the key, not change the battery hence the sealed keys.

3) Power steering leaks-expensive to fix
Err no experience with this yet. Touch wood.

4) Trans.fail.safe error message- scary as it sounds expensive to fix
I am actually in support with this program. The program tries to protect the gearbox from damage caused by other cause, so I'm ok with it. Better the error comes up than me replacing the gearbox.

5) No folding wing mirror switches-should be default at least for local specs as Auto Bavaria ones were not cheap during E39 heydays.
I have this so no issue for me hehehe

6)Heavy steering for me maybe not for some (my perdana and my ex-W203 feel a lot lighter)
Heavy steering is a characteristics of a good handling cars. If you have light steering like Mercs than you'll have handling like Mercs. I love the weight of the steering.

7)Wipers are positioned only for the LHD cars and no provisions made for RHD versions (E39 and E60 only. Not applicable to the F10 and E34)
Yes correct.

8) Local specs E39 (and most import specs) didn't come with rain sensing wipers/auto headlight and headlamp wash system. All are optional items that I know for the UK specs ones.
I have these too, no issues for me

9) Broken headlight level adjuster inside the headlights itself
Bad design! Bad choice of materials! If you have a broken adjuster, once you open the headlight you'll see the adjuster in many pieces! Its like its been blown. Although I think this is Hella's fault rather than BMW.

10) No wing-mirror LED-type indicator or the lack off this feature
Thats more Mercs signature, not BMWs?

11) Feel free to add guys...

12) Bad spot of rust everywhere for UK cars.....

2) Master key with remote especially the diamond type-expensive to duplicate and battery replacement is almost impossible without near-destruction of the key itself (why did BMW make it so hard for people to replace the battery?)
It is cheap if i am the one clone the key for you.

9) Broken headlight level adjuster inside the headlights itself
It got aluminium adjuster which i can replace it for you.

So can i say these 2 points are not a problem ?

13) No blardy reverse sensors on a Euro Import that was sold for $300k....but a mere $20K odd local car manufacturers factory fits a set of it.

14) Cheapskate plastiky design of powered window lifters that ought to jam when it rains or worst still when you're out on a hot date....No wait....i dunno which is worst...go figure!

15) Expensive PDC sensor. i have replace my front PDC senor 1 by 1 (used) and yet still giving problem that force me to replace with new unit.

16) headlights! dim as hell...eh wait a minute.maybe hell is bright coz got fire?

17. ABS sensors..most likely to warn you on broken or exposed sensor wires.
