Hi sifus,I think i wanna buy a used 530d...advice from the sifus here are welcomed. The thing is, despite the impressive specs this car/engine is blessed with, not many units can be found around. I found a 2005-registered brought in by Cartrade only clocked 95k km...going for RM168k. What can go horribly wrong with this motor? Please feel free to spread it all here or via pm.Thanking all in advance.

:listen: yes bro, go for it. '05 for RM168K is a good buy but then again need to reallly check the service record to see if its all in order....:top:

unless if new , you need to live with the noisy engine that sounds like a 1980 opel taxi approaching

And its most embarrassing when the valet drives your car to you in the hotel lobby... tatatatatiktiktiktik

I happened to browse zerotohundred website and saw a 2004 530d F1 limited edition with its dashboard autographed by Montoya and Ralf Schumacher - maybe should check it out....of course the autographs may add more RM :top:

Thanks for the advice. Any particular reason why '03 or '04 should be avoided? How do we tell the difference between '05 and pre '05, physically?

With diesel, its basically the same until 2007 where BMW refreshed the engine. With 530i petrol, the M54 engine was replaced with N52, Magnesium/Alumminium engines around 2005/2006.

Physically, you wont see a difference but internally, they did some refreshing around 05/06 with better Light Modules (can upgrade to LCI lights without changing them unlike 03/04 and early 05) among other things. If you can get 2007/08 up with LCI lights, you can actually see the physical difference.

Thanks for the tip Bro. The petrol one, i'm quite aware...just diesel one is the one i'm not.

good car, very economical and torquey(500 Nm) and will go all the way to 250kmh...

just be warned of the intake swirl valve, better remove it completely(even though BMW have done the mod for stronger pin on the valve, I just don't trust them)

Other than that you got yourself a cracking motor(quote from Mike Brews Auto Trader)

no doubt 530d will incur more maintenance than it's petrol counterpart, but if you could find a well maintained unit and religiously maintain the car as how it should be or more, I see no problem. Anyhow Euro4 diesel will be coming next year so I think now is the best time to buy these diesel cars as once Euro4 comes, every single ahmad, ah chong and muthu will be looking for these diesel beast.

Warranty expired on my 2004 530d (ex Premium Selection). Keeping up maintenance at AB means more month at the end of the Ringgit. Can anyone recommend an independent workshop(s) in the Klang Valley familiar with this model ? Much obliged.

Hi, I note dat u r looking for a 530d and I am considering selling my personal car to upgrade. I am the only owner besides BMW Malaysia and it is 2004, that comes with comfort seats, sun roof, original MTech bodykit and 18" rims. Engine has been ref lashed and maintained by AB.
I stay in Ampang, I can show you if you wish. No repairs required!
Give me a call on 012-3000111, if you are keen and even if you are not, would appreciate just an SMS too. Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with the diesel engine as I am buying another model diesel too, so rest assured. Believe you me that once you drive a BMW diesel and you maintain it well, you will never get the satisfaction from another petrol engine unless it is 4 litters and above,
Thanks
