E60 525i M-Sport yr 07 or 530i Japan Spec yr 05

Dear all E60 members...I'm so so so tempted to get an E60, it's a replacement for the W211 E240 in the house.Been looking around and found a few deals but juz hope to get more info from E60 owners here...the scenario is like this:I found this nice 07 525i M-Sport AB car for RM26xk, very nice all round, interior look clean, only done 30k km. Yr 07 means is the new facelift wif Mag Engine n push start & etc...so in general new tech la.Then, found this great 530i unreg Japan Spec, but it's the pre-facelift version hence no push start, old engine & etc...yet selling for 28xkI unstd that 530i definitely is more powerful but test drove the 525i N52 engine n felt not bad too...hmm, what advise will u guys give if it's this case??Thx for inputting...juz wanna gather n hear more b4 I go ahead with the purchase...as u noe, times r bad...gotta do more homework b4 spending :wink:

I would go for the 525i. At least you can be reassured that it's been maintained by AB.

My point of view:

1) It the 525 is properly maintained by AB, then you can rest assured that it is less problematic :top:
2) Since it's local specs... then you should have no problem with the Radio frequency and Sat Nav issues associated with Japanese specs model... as in you don't have to spend about RM8k to 10k just to convert the Japanese spec CCC to Local specs.
3) The Push Start Button is another cool factor... if only I bought the 2006 model instead of the 2005. Save me the hassle of taking out the key to unlock the door and start the engine... sigh!!!
4) Apart from the more powerful M54 engine that churns out about 260++bhp hence faster acceleration... it lacks everything that I mentioned above.

P.S: I am not biased towards local specs E60... coz I own an 525 M-Sport Japanese specs... which I think the 218bhp is more than enough and I spent more than RM7k just to listen to radio and GPS system... hope this helps!

If there's a local spec 530i with paddle shifter go for it man. but no M-Sport model available.

Bro, soli to ask after u spent 7k charge jpn spec to ccc only can use radio n gps so like bluetooth can use or not? Thank!

I didn't change the CCC... instead, I installed an Interface and then add a CD/DVD/MP3/FM player...
Even if you change the CCC.. it has got nothing to do with the bluetooth. You will need another optional Bluetooth Module which if I'm not mistaken, will put a hole in your pocket

go for the 525...rm26xk for the 07 model is a reasonable price considering that the car is still under warranty. i know of a same model (with push start butt etc etc) was sold for rm278k in april this year, mileage 28k kms. all the best!.

Or you can buy my March 06 CKD 525i M-sport which has been maintained by AB, Sapura Auto and lately Ingress Auto which is the magnesium engine with push start button, 20' BBS CK rims, H&R springs, Hamann quad pipe and awhole lot of other stuff.

hehe... next week shes going to trade in already at Hap Seng Star unless i can sell her before that.

when i am looking of it, i had seen a lot of this kind of specs E60, juz in case to show u more choice.

1. 525i m sport, made year 08, mil 30k, lci ab, black, rm 248k
2. 530i full spec, made year 08, mil 30k, lci ab, sunroof, night vision, paddleshift, black,rm298k
3. 530i full spec, made year 07, mil 25k, lci ab, sunroof, night vision, white, rm275k
4. 530i full spec, made year 08, mil 100k, lci ab, sunroof, night vision,paddleshift,black,rm275k

Bro i.... Since yr choice is 2007 model certainly its a N52 magnesium engine. Fyi, magnesium engine has this habit .... Engine oil topping up after several thousand kms of travelling, juz in case if u r not aware.Majority of N52 magnesium engine owners face this. Mine is also aN52 engine which i got a year ago. I would hv bought an E60 with M54 engine instead if i knew this engine oil topping issue earlier. I dont mind losing few horsepower as long as i dont hv to top up engine oil every now & then. Anyway, the choice is yours. U may consult other E60 N52 magnesium engine owners as well
