Fuji Industry intended to have their own version of the FT86 under their own Subaru brand and it will be an FI AWD.

Yup..that's the one.

As for the BMW concept, while the tech bits are fantastic,it's certainly not a looker. They need to find a much better looking shell than that to entice sportscar enthusiasts.

The Vision in mass production? I want it bad....It's supposed to be out of this world and also cos' it's pwetty.....But on a more serious note, I'd probably have to sell a kidney and part of my liver on the black market organ trade just to afford a section of the car. Oh yeah, I might as well put my sis's kids up for sale too. LOL. The taxes here are murder. And the government talks about petrol 'SUBSIDIES'. Oh please, why don't they mention how much the earnings are from selling overpriced Malaysian cars and import duties.

btw there's a new formulation for V-Power. Priced same as the current RON97 petrol. Saw the banner while passing a Shell station. A friend checked and confirmed it as well.

Wonder what changed.

the change is...its now called VPower97.

Isn't the previous formulation of the V-Power RON97 as well? The only difference is the additives in the petrol.

Hey guys, I've been trying to run my car here on Shell V-Power. It's RON99 here vs normal unleaded RON-95.

I went to Wales a couple weekends ago, but on the way back, I couldn't find a Shell station to fill up with V-Power, so I just settled for the normal unleaded.

I was carrying 3 passengers, and a boot stuffed full of luggage. After refuelling, as soon as I joined the dual carriageway and presseing on the accelerator, I immediately felt the difference to just before I fueled up! It could be psychological, but I think not.

VPower97 takes the place of RON97 in most Shell stations around the country. VPower Racing from Bukom refinery S'pore will only be available in selected stations in the Klang Valley and JB (obviously for S'pore customers)

There's been no fanfare or advertising about it, just a short, terse news release. Purely my opinion: VPower 97 is just plain vanilla ULG 97 from the PD refinery, rebranded as VPower for product differentiation. The real VPower with a different hydrocarbon structure is being phased out, as the numbers probably don't make sense.

I don't buy this marketing play at all.

I had run my E39 exclusively on VP for the last 2 years. Recently I took out my intake manifold to do some engine works.

Guess what I found.??...no carbon on the intake valves or in the walls of the intake ports on all six cylinders. Clean. I was quite surprised. Seems the Shell additive technology works as claimed.

Recently the shell station in my area decided not to carry the red nozzle anymore. That was 2 weeks ago. Now they have the Green 97 V power as seen by some of you.

I have tried for while now Caltex 97 in replacement of V-power. Not bad, good power, better than average. But for mpg figures, it still can't match the V-power.

Btw, they have V-power Diesel in Thailand.

so does that mean the V Racing that is available in selected stations in KV & JB comes from Bukom and its RON98?

which means we end up wt 2 V powers here..

Yes Sachs. I went to my regular Shell in Damansara Heights this evening, and they have 3 gasoline fuels: Unleaded 95 (RM1.80), VPower 97 (RM2.05) and VPower Racing (RM2.43) The owner, whom I know well, confirmed that VP 97 and VP Racing are different base fuels, but same additive package. This confirms to me that VP 97 is base ULG from Shell PD (or possibly even Petronas Melaka) that then becomes ULG 95 and ULG 97, and that VP Racing is the real VP from Bukom. And that VP 97 is just a rebranding of ULG 97, leveraging on the VPower name.

Damansara Heights (high-end cars) and JB (S'poreans) obviously have the market for VPower Racing. In my books, all this is 'sleight-of-the-hand' marketing, since 99% of consumers don't know the intricacies of the chemistry, production and distribution of gasoline. To me it's also reprehensible.

BTW, VPower Racing has always been Ron 97 here. RON figures are just a function of how much anti-knock is added to the base fuel. Add less and it's RON 95. Add more and it's RON 97. Nothing more than that.

But wouldn't the additives in V-Power increase the octane rating from 97 to 98 or even 99? (if Shell M'sia chooses to larrr)

I got an unpleasant suprise when i needed to refuel the other day. Checked out a few of my usual stations in KL area and found that they have changed to Vpower97!

I found Shell 97 sluggish vs Petronas. Tried Mobil/Esso, BHP, Caltex. Somewhat feel heavy & bad FC with Caltex, nothing special with BHP. Mobil/Esso gives a very strong smell in the morning when I first start the engine.

Tried Shell 97 once & never used again. May be give one more try to compare with Petronas, coz it's very near to my house.

Thought V-power racing reduced price at first, but after taking close look, it's basically same fuel base like the rest of 97. Probably the addictive may make a bit of difference?
V power racing is with lighter fuel base, dat make the difference.

Seems like a rebranding of RON97 with V-Power wording for marketing sake......

The additive package in VP Racing here has always been set at RON97 and still is. The station owner confirmed to me that the additive package for VP 97 and VP Racing are the same (but the base fuels are different)

They use the same red pumps for both, so you have to look at the side panel to see whether it says VP 97 or VP Racing. It can be hard to see when you're queuing up for a pump, unless you're familiar with that station's layout. Some stations will have both fuels, but many stations will have only VP 97 now.

It's this lack of clarity that I find reprehensible because most people won't know the difference.
