Just an update for members that are interested in remapping their cars.
There were 5 (blueberry and friend, xxx, erica34 and myself) of us that took up the group buy offer from Upsolute and I was the last one that did the remap over the weekend.
Initially, I did a dyno at GT Auto after my original map was extracted and sent to Austria. During the Dyno, I was pleasantly surprised to see the hp figures significantly higher (16 rwhp) compared to other ///M3s that had their dyno done there earlier! And these cars already had their ecu remapped as well.
Seeing that my car could possibly been remapped by the previous owner, I was very reluctant to upload the Upsolute map as I may get a lower hp/torque with the new map, given the possibility that if that was to happen, there is a possibility that the tuner (Muiz) may not be able reload my original map that was extracted. These aftermarket maps can only be uploaded once, and in my case I wouldn't know exactly which tuner did the car previously, if any.
Muiz assured me that the guys at Austria (Upsolute tuning) can "customise" my map to increase the hp/torque, which they had done previously on other cars. I decided to take the plunge, and have the map uploaded at APD where they have the latest dyno machine. I made the arrangement to have 3 dyno runs with the existing software, and then another 3 runs with the Upsolute map, to ascertain if the Upsolute software could indeed add a few more ponies. Thanks to Muiz and APD for accomodating my request as it saves me time and also $$ (instead of having to do 2 dyno runs, back and forth).
As my car was loaded with the latest software, the engine could only rev up to 6000rpm. We tried removing the fuses, wiring harness to the DSC module and etc to no avail, so comparison was made up to 6000rpm, before and after and also compared to another highly souped up ///M3 CSL.
At 6000rpm, the engine was pushing 258rwhp (at GT Auto it was 265rwhp). This figure was 12hp higher than the CSL at that range. Upon the new software being uploaded, at the second run the engine pushed out another 6.5rwhp at 6000rpm. I suspect the figure could be higher (if could rev to 8000rpm) as the dyno graph was still increasing in a steep manner.
At 6000rpm, with the new mapping the HP produced is equivalent to what the CSL pushes at 7500rpm!!
Given that the original figures were already high, I am quite pleased with the results and the immediate feeling while driving back, was the engine a lot smoother and quieter. This could be due to the difference in the AFR. Previously, at WOT the AFR was a little on the lean side, around 14.0 to 14.5, now with the new mapping it hovers from 13.2 to 13.8 which is more comforting to know, especially when its pushed hard on the track.
For those that are interested, you can organise it amongst yourselves (minimum 5 cars) to get this special promotion.
Cheers
