Upsolute Tuning

Hello everybody.

I am planning to do chip tuning for my 2001 E39. Once installed I should be getting a slight increase in horsepower that is from 192 to 208 bhp, improved fuel economy, better throttle response for my throttle-by-wire and better driveability. Any of you guys tried this before? The company is based in Glenmarie. The tuning is done online from Austria.

Oh ok.. so apa lagi mod yg dah buat? I think before u remap,it is best u do other mods dulu ie exhaust,filter and maybe port n polish.Lepas semua dah buat baru la remap..u'll get a better/optimised remap.

Depends on who does the job.. better for u to check out urself.Had my STi dulu done for rm1200.For BMW tak sure la macha..

Newbies here: driving a E60 05 192hp + sprint booster. suppose to do a re-map at certain local BMW specialist workshop but have not quoted any pricing yet. any advice as to:
- what's the different between the usual re-map and this Upsolute?
- What is the usual price for the standard re-map?
- Which is the better option to go for?

There's a few types of remaps. Some use piggy back style. Upsolute tunes the ECU online via the OBD port. For E60, the ECU needs to be removed.
- What is the usual price for the standard re-map?
Standard remap for the E60 costs RM2800 probably due to the extra job of removing the ECU.
- Which is the better option to go for?
I can't tell you for sure. Almost all tuners claim they are the best in the market. For upsolute, your original setting is burned onto a CD. So, the whole process is reversible. The guys at Glenmarie is only the agent for Upsolute. They never claim they are the tuners. Tuning is done in Vienna via online. Some companies claim they are the "tuners". They must have copied the program from somewhere. Upsolute is quite a reputable company in Europe. If you are not happy, you can complain directly to Upsolute main HQ in Vienna. This is a big advantage.
- Any side effect for these 2 options?
The only side effect that I can think of is that on some cars the engine temperature will rise as high as 5 degrees Celcius. Probably not good for the engine in the long run.

I go for Unichip simply because the tune is specifically to your car rather than a generic tune like upsolute ... But the cost may be higher in term of hours required for tuning your car.

Piggyback ECUs have a serious limitation. I used to have UNichip as well.

First, piggyback ECU doesn't work well when the car is operating under close loop. Over time, the new mapping is over-ride by the stock ECU, and only works in open loop conditions, ie WOT.

Secondly, the tuning done with Unichip is worse than generic to say the least. If you get a DME reader and extract the maps out and view it in 2D, and then observe how the Unichip is being tuned, you will know a lot of interpolation work is being done, otherwise there is no way to churn out a completely new map in one day (most of the time half day). I have seen Jim Conforti's mapping (extracted out and compared to stock), almost all the points in the matrix are tuned individually (compared to stock) and that takes a lot of time.

So the best best is still to get an upgraded map flash unto your ECU (superchip, hiop, upsolute and etc), then further fine tune it on the dyno.

Bernard of BVO in Singapore would be the best person to fine tune the vehicle.

Bro ... what MSpeed is offering is a software upgrade from BMW for the DME and gearbox ECU (step and SMG) highly recommended bro To determine the software version you have for your car would be to plug-in diagnostic tools into your OBD-II port ... there may be other ways to find out or not
An ECU remap however is different it usually alters the fuel and ignition mapping based on the tuners test vehicle ... it is uploaded via OBD-II port

At 1st I though after reading the comments and advice i got better picture on "Remap". But the more I read the more I confuse!!! Ha3.......... sorry for being such a noob! As there are too many version of remap, tuning, on the road tuning, blah blah blah!
Appreciate Sifu or Guru2 assist in clarifying the different. Reference above, DME software upgrade is different from ECU remap. Do I need BOTH to improve the car performance? If needed, which 1 shd i go 1st? Cheers.

I managed to negotiate with Upsolute regarding group discount for BMWCM members. RM1800 nett. Offer valid for E36, E46 and E39. This offer is valid for 5 cars or more. Offer ends on the 24/06/09. Those interested kindly list down your names.

As for E60, E65 and E90, the cost is RM2800 before discount. So far, there's no discounts for these models. Why is the price more expensive? I was told that the ECU must be removed unlike E36, E39 and E46 (through OBD port).

ok - just got my E90 320 done by Bernard BVO - haven't got a chance to test it out coz over here speed limit is ony 90kmh. Feeling car sick coz need to get used to the sudden acceleration - stop-go condition.

Will try out this weekend when i drive back to KL . I should be able to outrun Transtar, Aeroline, First Coach, NICE - this time .. :top:
