And don't forget to stick an ///M badge on your rear...... sure can go faster :aetsch:

Don't miss out the bodykit, it improves the aerodynamics! :p

Can one put a turbo on 325i sports? Which one is commercially available and reliable in Malaysia?

Power is never enough on track, so forget about modding your car to get more power so that you'll be happy on track, unless you've got very big budget!

Alternatively, get a "track" car!

Wise words indeed from the veteran!

Guys, surely you've heard of BMW offering packages for 3 series at RM20K which includes 18" rims with RFT, the M-Sport kit, ipod interface. Rims are either the radial or cross spoke 196 / 197, includes labour. I have not done any mods yet on my 320i. Is this worthy to consider, is price reasonable. Your expert opinion is sought.

Bringing KJBee's question to the E90 Mods thread instead...

Bro, I assume you are referring to this:
http://www.bmw.com.my/com/en/general/bmwowners/accessories/package_3series.html

IMHO, it's a little too pricey, as is always the case with the accessories offered by BMW official dealers. I guess the only consolation is that it doesn't void your warranty (if you still have one).

Referring to the MTech-kit alone, the best price we've got so far is just under RM6k with paint from Stuttgart Motorsports, but you will need to trade-in your existing bumpers. Ori boot spoiler is RM800 painted if you get it together with the MTech Kit. Those items are selling at RM10.7k & RM1.7k respectively from BMW!

And if you are one who likes to go for the more "branded" 18" rims+tyres, RM15k should settle that, compared to the RM20.5k BMW wants...

I have to agree with you, espcially on getting a "track" car

To qualify for a good track car, first u need a good suspension, then good engine, good brakes, period! Oh yes, minus passenger seats, aircond, stereos, carpet, NVH material, door panel, ALL cabut and buang! :D A roll cage, even half cage would be an added safety and of course, an fire extinguisher and an external power cut switch is a necessity.. :D

A good track car not unnecessary a good BMW "car" but can be cheapo EG6 or AE101 but loaded with the above goodies..

Hi,

Am not sure if this is the right thread to be asking this but was wondering where i could get hold of the original m-sport suspension for an E90 320i and the cost? Thanks.

Am new here so pls redirect me if i should be asking this elsewhere.

Yup it's the right thread where we talk about mods and racun ppl hehe :p

Hmm... not sure if you are able to get the M Sport suspension for 320i in the market now, as the 320i Sport was just launched. Maybe you would be able to get it only from the dealers, which would be pricey! Previously the M Sport suspension was only available for the 325i Sports. AFAIK, the suspension parts for the 4-potters and 6-potters are different.

Why not go the KW V2 route like E46F and ken, since you are changing your suspension? According to them, nice ride comfort and good handling :top:

Yea, you can get the M sport suspension from the authorized BMW dealers and its a known accessory item. I think it should be around ~RM5k installed and will come with shocks, springs and anti roll bars.

Alternatively, there is a set of 1 year old E90 Bilstein PSS9 full adjustable coilovers for sale by one of the members for Rm3.5k. New is something like RM8k. Do PM Speedrats for the contact.

Thanks E46F. Since i'm only after a slightly lowered look with improved handling, me thinks the PSS9 may be a tad much. My other option is to go for the Eibach + Koni FSD combo for about RM4k fully fitted...but i hear the drop there is about 30-35mm. The M-Sport suspension is a little less severe at approx 15mm (i'm told).

The 320i M Sport suspension of 15mm drop looks perfect (to me..) in the 17" wheels. Infact, I notice there's a slight visible camber (wheels leaning inwards) making the car looks like the 320Si track car.

Of course, wheel-fender gap is subjective to the profile of the tyre. If u go 18", then the wheel-fender gap will relatively look wider, thus u need to lower further to improve the look.

Can't remember this question was answered before, so I ask again.. :p The KW V2 that E46F bought is for 6 potter. I wonder if 4 potter KW V2 coilover is cheaper..?! :p

and kvdavies, u never have to worry about the drop if u use height adjustable coilover like the KW V2 because u can "screw" until it reaches your desirable height.. :D different size wheel require different height to look good. I reckon the M Sport suspension would only look nice on 17" wheels.

and kvdavies, u don't have to worry about the KW V2 suspension being too stiff as u can always adjust the stiffness of the absorber to you liking by rotating a knob on the strut itself. To bad its not motorised with a knob in the dash for u to set on the fly.. :D

I know Bilstein PSS9 fits for all different models across 1 particular range. (ie. PSS9 for E36 fits all 318,325 and 328. Same goes for E46 etc.).

But..but.. 4 potter engine a lot lighter ma and being 50/50 chassis weight, meaning 4 potter rear also lighter, should use softer spring rate all round ma?!! How can hantam masuk 6 potter tuned spring? No enter root! (Tak masuk akar.. :D)

Cool! But I think this is only 2-mode on/off kind of control la. Trust me, I have use such 2-mode strut before and u know what, both mode also not much rasa and both mode also too soft to my liking... I really wander what is the definition of "SPORT" mode.. perhaps they should have a "TRACK" mode.. :p

Brothers,

For those of you with the iDrive and Sat-Nav screen, have you tried updating the GPS software + maps etc? I heard AB quotes RM2018+ for a new CD. So every 6 months, you have to pay 2K to get new roads information. If this is true, its just plain ridiculous as the data on those maps are not even owned by BMW.

Any brothers can verify and clarify?

cheers

Ya from what I understand, PSS9 starts from 40mm lowering onwards. KW V2 starts from 20mm lowering onwards, so with KW V2's you can go with a less agressive height adjustment. Eibach prokit is 30-35mm and M tech is 15-25mm lowering.

M tech is a great all rounder option for daily driver practicality IMHO.

Yes this is true. But the updated DVD map is "optional" so.. if its too expensive, you can opt to continue using the old map. Also I was told to use the latest 08/09 DVD map you need to flash your firmware to the latest revision (FOC) first. Perhaps they made the UI simpler to use in the latest DVD map.

Wah! 40mm is a lot le. Its about 1.6 inches, almost half of the wheel-fender gap gone! If that's the case, KW V2 is a better less aggressive choice unless u r going above 18"s.. and I guess DY's Pro Kit is giving about 35mm drop la... very nice drop for his 18"s too! or was it 19"

Yea I see where you're coming from. Well I could be wrong la but I know for PSS9 there is only 1 set for E36 whether its 318, 325 or 328. Not sure about other brands. Maybe some suspension sifu can enlighten us a little on this subject as to whether coilovers have different sets for 4 potters and 6 potters. :top:

Alternatively there's TEIN's EDFC to look at :)
