So when are u going to do some modifications to your ride ? Still intend to keep it stock standard ??

If I mod... it will make ur car looks ordinary lio... not nice la.. :p

Seriously.. bling bling mod is not my cup of tea.. when I start to mod.. you won't notice it until we hit the highway.. :D

So how many of you have done the K&N drop in filter @Speedworks? I head good things about it and its a reasonable RM350 mod... Increases power and free revvingness plus saves fuel.

Yeah, any feedback would be much appreciated.

How much does our original air filter cost anyway? K&N is very good.. especially at high rev zone..

Dunno whether it affects our warranty.. :(

Worse come to worse, I only install it after 60k km.. :D

Not having it on my E90 but I have it on my other car and IMHO, it doesn't give huge differences. Of course it is better than the original filter especially at high rev zone just like what Astroboy said but if you expect a lot from it in terms of increase power and saves fuel, you will be disappointed.

I would say, there is slight improvement against original filter and with such a price as compared to our original filter, it is worth going for it especially the price of our original filter is not cheap (I think is somewhere around the region of RM 300).

I've also tried a few filters in my Honda Dohc Vtec days, - RS Akinomoto (cotton oiled), HKS (foam), K&N Drop in, etc and they do improve the performance of the car I had. I also changed the oil religiously every 5k kms with Mobil 1 which was probably a good thing..

I would continue to use aftermarket filters, but the oil change interval for the BMW is already long, and while I'll do an in between, I'm looking at 10-15k kms before each change.

Based on independent tests, it may not be too good for the car in the long term:

Full test results can be found here

However, despite this, I am still itching for that extra edge in performance, even with another E90 325i heh. Also K&N are reputable filter manufacturers, and I've never had my engine give problems with aftermarket filters in the past and most people I know never had. So maybe its worth a try. Also install and replace back with original is a simple DIY which will prob take 15 mins only heh. So would u guys do it based on the info below?

E46F, you know where I live which can be really dusty with every inch of land being frenzily developed. So, it is a concern. However, I would still do it cos there's so much performance yet to be unleashed from the N52 2.5 L. Let's group buy? Then claim refund from Ken if it doesn't work as well, hahahaha!

Shucks! I completely forgot about checking on the M mobility kit for Bmrocket! Coming soon... hehehe!

Do you all plan to do it at Speedwork? I happened to check with Marco from Motorsport Division when I was installing my Remus and it is also RM350. I happened to also consider this too as it is a relatively cheaper choice. How much do you think you can get it from group buy? I may not wait long enuf for the group buy to happen :)

I guess the price is quite standard everywhere and we are planning to get it at Speedworks. Not sure if we can get any special price for having a group buy.

Yeah I think its worth a try. Based on K&N FAQ on how some people get better FC is due to better efficiency of having more unburnt fuel combust with more air. Also notice carbon soot on my tailpipes, so maybe its running a bit on the rich side which can be offset with more air into the combustion chambers... So far both Speedrat and Ken says the K&N is a good mod on their cars. Then again their's are 330i's. I checked and BMW air filter part no is identical for both 325i and 330i. Only thing to keep in mind, do shorter interval oil changes!

Good one. We already have in hand 4 units and if you are in too, then we have 5. I'm sure there are few more to come.

Lets check it out and see what's the best price we can get from Speedworks, Motorsports Divisions and this supplier of yours.

There are 2 specs, one Europe and the other US spec drop in's. Our 325i's are based on a conical one which is the europe spec filter. So K&N also has a part no for the Europe spec filter which is conical in shape which is the one both Ken and Speedrat got. I haven't checked on the 2.0 ltr, but Speedworks would know I think.
