hi,just want to check if thicker ARB makes a different in the car ride.1) less role ?2) better handling 3) improve ride comfort4) less bottom out...... and the list goes onThere are 2 aftermarket types. One is standard ARB which is thicker than stock standards one. The other one is adjustable front and rear. Adjustable front and rear will allow you to setup the car your needs and driving style. Therefore, this give you the pure pleasure of a good handling car.And wonder if ARB works well with stock standard setup or better with sports setup or lowered setup.

Heya Elwin. I doubt it will do any improvement in ride comfort at all if you were to install an thicker arb. It would only feel stiffer depending on how hard your ride is being pushed through coners. Also note that stiffer does not necessarily mean better... ;)

Fitted my Ireland Engineering ARB, due to the tightness of the PU bushes around the bars, it does affect the ride somehow... (the bushes still virgin mah)It's not so 'crushy' when going over speed bumps and not that jittery when going over road undulation.... I'm still experimenting with the set up. The front now understeers even though it's on the softest setting. With stiffen up the rear to balance it up.... Right now can take corners with little roll. NICE.....

I beg to differ master obi-wan, thicker ARBs influence the lateral movement of the car in motion..............After I installed my IEs, even my wife noticed that the ride quality improved! Now that's progress! (on the car, not the wife 'kay?) :p

Aiyah Bro Elwine30,Just install ur IE bars and gauge it for urself......ride comfort is a VERY SUBJECTIVE thing but sadly many ppl just follow blindly by choice or otherwise.....As mentioned by some & in our mails, ARB should :- give u LESS roll- improve handling IN CORNERS ( as the car will ride flatter )- improve comfort in SOME situationsThe last one, as I said is SUBJECTIVE and depends very much on the situation the moving car is in. Since the ARB connects the left & rite wheels/suspension together.....do expect a more settled ride in circumstances where the left & rite wheel have to go thru different sets of forces & undulations.....ie. while cornering ( from weight transfer ) or road uneveness ( less likely ) respectively. To put the above words into another way of explaining.....if you hit a speed hump square on....the ARB wun help. If you hit it at an angle.......it MAY help and give u a more "comfort" cos the 1st wheel hitting the hump will lower the 2nd wheel BEFORE it hits the hump. Do note that ARB needs an 'action' to give it an opposite & equal 'reaction' to the other side of the bar.....Hence it will assist in ironing out the lateral ( left-rite ) uneveness in ur ride......like what Master Kev said. Please remember that some ppl relate LESS roll as good comfort too.....btw, it will do little to prevent bottoming out and the main comfort comes from the springs & shockers choice....Last of all, it's ur ARSE & ur driving style...so go check it out!

However, remember that our suspension is a system of separate components doing very different things together to deliver ride and handling......so the ARB do influence the ride to a certain degree.....You have to experience it on your own car before drawing conclusions ........ :p

ok, here is my post-mortem.Installed the IE last week and had a long distance drive to Penang with 4 passengers in the car.Results1) ride comfort has improve. The car feels firmer, less body roll and no more hop. It's more comfortable even to uneven roads or wavey roads.2) cornering now is much flat and more confidence to bends3) tail is more controlled now. 4) long sweepers at 180 km/h is NOT a problem at allOverall, thicker ARB is one of the best mods I have fitted. The car feel so much better than before. This mod also is recommded to be applied to stock suspension setup cars.

I very the envy you....hope to get mine dun soon... not IE's lah...sumthing more reasonable :)

jip,ok... i think i was from that setup before moving to IE. It makes a difference dude.

Another question, would the thicker ARB increase tear & wear to other parts of the car ? such as lower arm bush, ball joint.I also feel that my chasis of the car is now stiffen. Is it a good thing or bad thing ?
