GOOD:1. Looks fast, styling purpose2. Reduce lift, increase stability especially during corneringUGLY:1. Increase fuel consumption2. Reduce top speed due to excessive dragMAYBE:1. Defuse drag but this type will not reduce liftDepending on design of the spoiler. Let's examine the 3 common tyre for my car:M3

The greater the slope angle of the boot spoiler, the greater the down force created, the greater the drag, and hence fuel consumption and top speed suffer. So choose your boot spoiler smartly.Any experience to share? I am suspecting my after market M3 boot lip spoiler produces lots of drag, top speed and FC suffer.. despite the sweet cornering sensation, yet I no balls to floor in the corner.. so what's the point?.. sigh~ :2:At 200kph, the slightess slope angle of the boot spoiler will make a lot of difference. What's your take? Got experience to share?

More for looks rather than actual performance. How many people actually reach speeds where the spoiler would have an effect anyway.

A small boot spoiler can enhance a vehicles profile.

Other types of spoiler can serve as a makeshift cabinet, table or futsal goal post.

Precisely the point.. for looks and sad to say I'm equally guilty.. and so we sacrifice top speed and fuel consumption.. the one I choose is the after market M3 type..

Check out the lift angle..

Comparing to the real M3 design.. much more moderate on the surface lift angle..

I'm suspecting both my top speed and fuel consumption will immediately improve if I remove it.. :4: Oh well.. now I have more rear down force than an M3.. :24:

It won't help much aerodynamically more so on a modern BMW where the boot height is already so high.

If you want more downforce, install some panel covers at the bottom to smoothen the air flow. Spoilers are more for aesthetic purposes, so choose the most garang one!

performance part should be upgraded in tandem.

bodykit alone is all show and no go.

if bodykit = -speed, then turbo to +speed
if turbo = -handling -braking, then brembo and H&R to +handling +braking

*brands are for reference only =)

sometimes its just funny to see the smaller cars fitted with big oversized wings. even IF it does give you a considerable amount of downforce, its not like they can fully utilise such force with such narrow tyres.

:listen: .. I think they think that the oversized wings is already heavy enuff to create a good downforce, no need to go fast for that downforce thingy :4:

Hahaha, who knows.

Maybe it is also to add weight to their bootlid so that they can drop the lid rather than slamming the lid to close the boot.

I once have this noob modder who said how his gt wing helped in take corners bla bla bla because of the awesome downforce. I suggested him to install 2 more gt wings. One on his bonnet, and one on his roof. So that he can take corners at a faster pace and have downforce evenly distributed all over his car.
