No idea on dragons but I'm currently running on precedas. Bought them at 430 a piece including balancing and alignment...

So far about 1000KM on it and I would say these are comfort performance based tyres rather than full time performance tyres but grip is there whenever u need some spirited driving. Expect quietness. But when they are new, they tramline a bit. Driving in the wet is good..but always drive slow lah during stormy days....

I would like to try the dragons when these tyres finished...hehe..

Anyway, good luck in ur quest!

guys, thinking of getting 17 inches, hm2, i currently on stock 15 inches, what size of tyre should i go?? 225/??/17???

Incidentally, I met Vincent of Lim Tayar TTDI the other day and he says he can offer the best pricing for both Precadas and Dragons. I think it's worth paying him a visit if you guys are planning to do a tyre change cos he has offered me very good pricing before. Do mention you're BMW Club Malaysia member since some of us go to him regularly.

Ade ,

Where may I ask you purchase your Precedas from ? RM430 seems a good buy .

cheers

8080,

I got it from a shop in sg.dua....tyre shop beside pizza hut. Not sure they are selling that price again though...I think it went up to RM450...but they throw in balancing, and alignment for free. Not to mention free washing of your rim inside out.

Ade ,

Thanks alot man . best price i got so far is RM470 each. But i believe it can be lower .

Cheers

Yup..should be able to lower....last i ask around jelutong area was 450 each...

Try TOYO T1R- paid 500+ for 18" so 17: should be cheaper. Very good on both dry and wet.

Ok guys. An update. I've been using Dunlop SP9000 for about 3 months now and thread level is still at above 90%. My rear Firenza (exploding tires) were starting to bulge and peel. Yikes!!!

Yesterday I went for alignment and the tire shop had a pair of 90% thread Potenza GIII (Thailand) RM100 a piece. so I grabbed it!!!

So now my car is running SP9000 in front and Potenza GIII at the back.

Ride: Superb! Both the SP9000 and GIII seem very well matched

Noise: Both seem equal too although the SP9000 seems a little noisier on certain road surfaces. Otherwise, both are quiet.

Dry Handling: Now this is interesting. If I enter a sharp corner at too high a speed the front end would grip and not give in to understeer at all. Once the limit is reached the rear will start to slide but in a very controlled and progressive way and the whole car seems to behave like it has 4 wheel steering. As the corner gets sharper just apply more steering lock and the rear will steer with the front accordingly. No understeer and no threat of the rear swinging around too. No need to back off throttle or powerslide. The best way to describe is 4 wheel steering. Very confidence inspiring.

Looks: I must say that the GIII looks rather puny compared to the SP9000 though. Both are 225/45/17 but the SP9000 looks wider and more broad shouldered while the GIII looks like it's only 215mm as it's sidewalls seem to taper in.

Wet handling: I expect the SP9000 to be better as it's a V thread but no chance to try yet. Will follow up.

hi sifus,

just want to share my experience. i am using Michelin MVX 225/55/16. my car seems veering on high speed 140-160 km/h. my ride is now on stock. is it my tire because it is not performance tire? scary though. anyone with non-performance tire like mine?

TQ

Just changed 4 new tyres.
Bridgestone MY01
Size 215/45/17
Cost RM 290 per tyre.
Shop - in Batu Pahat
Traded in my rear Yokohama ES100 as well which is 80% new - very noisy tyres.
Front was Firenza which has 35% or so left but was bulging on the inside.
So I'm not sure if the Bridgestone is quite or not as compared to Yokohama, makes a hell of a difference where noise is concerned.
