Bought 2 pieces of Yokohama ES 100 for RM 180 a piece.
It has been used for 3 days.
Manufactured week 32 year 04.
There were actually 4 pieces but someone bought 2 already.
Came off a Malay chap who went for wider tyres.
Anyone know the price for new ones - 215/45/17.

I guess it had to happen sooner or later. 2 of my ES100 are showing uneven wears ... the other 2 are okay. Got the problem fixed but the tires have to go soon ...

What wud you guys suggest for 225/40/18 ? Say with a budget of RM 650.00 -/+ per piece. Yoko ES100s are out ... My usual shop is suggesting the Toyo Vimode at RM 550.00 per piece. Any other suggestions ?

Bro Vanquish,

Checked out the price for your 225/40 18" tyres. Toyo V-mode is RM580/piece while the newly lauched Toyo T1R is RM 550/piece.

Dunno about the performance of T1R, still awaiting for reviews from car mags but the thread looks cool (if that can be a reason to buy a certain tyre :p ). But the sad news is, both no stocks for the moment. Have to wait till July...

If i were in your position with blank notes.. i wont change my tires till i can see wire treads. Save up and get decent tires at least..Michelin Pilot PRecedas!! No regrets..Least its much cheaper than Pilot Sport and So3s...
Thats what im facing now with my skyline. Saving up for Potenzas SO3s...
=)
JEs drivee slow and never take any corners.. hehe...

The Precedas are on my shopping list but one's able to give me a quote or availability for 225/40/18. Someone recommended Capitol from Korea ... RM 450.00 a piece. Consumers are rating it even higher than the ES100s on the net it seems. Anyone heard of this brand before ?

:D currently using dunlop sp9000,these are superb!! especially in the wet..
i got these bcoz i saw that these are SI on e46 325i sport editions..
don't go for firenzas if u want wet weather performance cuz they suckin the wet.
 can't stress enough that wet weather perf are important especially for us cuz our cars are rwd... unless u want to crawl like a snail when it rains.. :lazy:

Glad you are happy with it so far. I have no complains as well after having these tires for close to 3 months now. As for the price, I was comfortable with my current tire shop. I know their price is slightly higher but they do a fantastic job on the balancing and alignment and best of all, they provide great after sales service, something which most tire shops do not provide anymore. (sometimes he charged me RM5 for on wheel balancing!) :D

Rgds
Hi Sifu AlBundy

Just wondering what you think of Bridgestone Potenzas? Are they any good?
TQ

:D :D :D

Have not tried it, so I cant comment on it really. The ones I have tried are Falken Azenis, Kumho Ecsta Supra, Hankook Ventus and Michelins. All are good but the Michelins last longest with the Azenis on the other end of the scale. Good luck :)

Why dont give Goodyear Eagle F1 a try? Seriously thinking of switching to those tyres . Heard its cheap AND good. Currently using Yokohama AVS. A tda too noisy lar but not bad at all. :)

Actually I forgot to mentioned those two tires, Eagle F1 and Yoko ES100. Yoko is okie until the thread is about 50%, then its starts to get noisy. As Eagle F1 due to the thread pattern (good for wet conditions) but a tad noisy for my liking. So far, french rubber still da best for me :)
