All, am currently driving an '03 E46 325i on stock 16" rims. The current tire size is the standard 225/50/16. What are the possible size combination for the car? Am thinking of shrinking it down to a 205/55/16 for not other reason than just to keep costs down and hope to get a better tire for that size.Any recommendations from the brother's out there?

Shrinking not only helps reduce your costs, but can also be safer at times. Fyi, wider tyres will increase tramlining & can sometimes be dangerous on wet surfaces:)

Hi, thanks for the reply. I agree with your observations, but am still a little concern from a safety point of view. A "smaller" tire would also mean less contact with the road surface, would this compromise safety?

I know for a fact that the E46 320i's with the same rim size 16" are fitted with 205/55/16 tire specs, but the 320i's and just a tad little than the 325i's.

Anyways, do you also have a recommended tire shop I can visit for some advise and also good prices on tires?

Me too having this dilemma, but I guess I'll stick to 225/50/R16
I got quoted in Klang tayar shop, Hin Leong along Kapar road for RM 470 for Michellin PP2 per piece

That sounds really cheap, are u sure it's for size 225/50/16? Actually, I have been asking around and I think it is quite safe to go to the "Smaller" size. You get a much much wider selection of tires. I am currently looking at the Yokohama S-Drive. It's new but has been getting rave reviews in Tirerack... (www.tirerack.com)
