A reader's letter that my friend found on the newspaper. What's your comment on this ...?xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTheir main activity is riding on the powerful and heavy two-wheel machine during public holidays, special events or just simply touring the country. What is so confusing is: who appoints the marshall to lead these riders and do the Traffic Police or Road Transport Department (JPJ) give them the authority to ride fast and to stop other road users so as to give ways to the convoy to pass through?I have found this action very irritating, especially on the highway where we have to pay for the toll but these riders use it for free. Be considerate, bro, and learn some good manners too, respect other road users! Can the road transport authorities take some action against those not adhering to the traffic laws. Some of them do not even display or use the proper plate numbers.

it is safer (for everyone) for convoys to be marshalled and their traffic managed.

some convoys stick to the right lane - doing 110kmh - with siren wailing ...

I once followed a group of SG plate Harley - doing barely 140kmh on the right lane - and refused to move over ... And nope -the hway was clear - it was 7:00 am !

And that - to me - is a nuisance ...

You are luck to meet convoy with marshall.. met once with more then 100 cars on convoy without Marshall ... all doing 80-120km along ELite

nothing is gonna change, live wt it...

ps: those convoys wt marshals - they hv a reason for it, so just give way...

One time and got couple of time with alfa and perdana and all cort of so call luxury car, few month ago with about 15 BMW convoy taking right lane with marshall as well, this is no exception to ridiculious.

superbike convoys.....well, there r on an express to an accident if they r not careful! ( I am ex-biker too okay, so no need flame me )

car convoys....well, very much the same!

in short, I dun like convoys cos when in packs, people tend to show off and many, cannot handle the peer pressure and that's when it goes out of hand. ( and involve those innocent )

Now, u know why I dun do such things....even in the club.

As far as i know where Superbikes Marshalls are concern, they hold some kind of authority on the road, i.e. police officers or JPJ officers or very senior and experienced riders.
Marshalls have a duty and responsibility to keep convoy disciplined ,that means if convoy is directed to do 110kmph on highways, they make sure all will abide even if you have a super super bike
If you think going 100 kmph in a car on a highway following a superbike convoy is frustrating, try riding one and be in the convoy, ......i did it for 4 hours, with a pillion, all the way to BKT Merah, it's boring, frustraiting, painfully slow, backaching and very dangerous too coz halfway thru' someone fell asleep and crashed into the railings.....
rider n bike ok, after that the convoy up the speed to 120 kmph....

oi, ex -biker flaming other bikers ka? ...opps its SG bikers , so its ok.....:top:

I dislike convoys and yes they are a nuisance. It not only endangers those in the convoy but also other road users as well. Some self appointed Marshalls think they have the authority to stop traffic at roundabouts, traffic junction etc just because they don the 'Mashall' vest and ride a big bike. Thats called intimidation.

The purpose you ride a bike in the first place is to get the feel of 'freedom'...convoys are just restrictive and a show.

Ive also seen Superbikes with Marshall stickers and some painted white with sirens just to confuse other road users that they are coppers. I seriously believe these people couldnt/didnt make it to the forces and now want to command authority.

All bikes are not allowed on the highways that have a motorcycle lane but that doesnt seem to be the case here...especially with the superbikers.

Yes, c'mon...flame me...Im ready !

BURN OkoW! Burn! he he he

Frustrating for the convoy riders/drivers ... no big issue. They choose to be in the convoy in the first place. But for us the public road users ... we are not involve with the convoy, so they shud be more considerate.

For me..no matter using car or motorbike..no matter convoy with marshall or not..what they have to do is simple thing..follow all road laws and regulations..and respect others road users..:top:

just my 2 cents..

You are wrong.....according to the JPJ, Police traffic and JKJR, there are some hiways that can be use by the bikers.....for example the federal hiway. Imagine thier big bikes runs on the narrow bike lanes....dangerous man. Usually 500cc bikes and above the JPJ and police will close one eye and let them be....but if the hiway bike lane is big enough for the big bike, the will issue a summon if you didnt use it...example the Guthrie hiway bike lane is quite ok.
As for the marshall...to be the bike marshall, you must attend to a few courses before they give you the marshall permit. so they must follow the rules and regulation...usually those marshall wanna-be is the culprit....
and i believe the real marshall can stop you on the road to give way to the convoy. JUST GIVE WAY to them lah...they are not MAT REMPIT or Samseng Jalan. (those big bikers)

Okow was a Marshall before, he should know better.....( or was it Marshall for the tracks only!!)

Anyway, things change as time passes by and maybe the police are abit lenient to big bikers now since many of their officers are avid bikers too - i know of a fellow biker years back with a rank of OCPD ,bike was a kwaka 1100cc, single exhaust,( later i found out the engine was fully mod ) .....overtook me on the NS hiway when i was cruising at 180 kmph.....:stupid:

it's actually the tiny 1% sour grapes that gets the bad rep for the whole bunch......

Bro...I repeat...it is an OFFENCE for any motorcycle to be on any highway that has a motorcycle lane unless you have been given prior authority or if you are with the authorities ie....Police, Armed, UTK escort etc. Its the same as beating the traffic lights at 4am when its still red or taking ganja...its an offence but dont get caught.

The fact that you mentioned 'JPJ and Police will close one eye' (hmmm...i wonder what happened to that 'tutup satu mata' politician) already means that its not allowed.
Motorcycle lanes being unsafe for big bikes is another issue....there will be alternative routes for you besides the Fed H/way which I never used when I was riding.

Back then - traffic was light .. Cruising at 160 kmh is quite normal ..
