Bro Jarance,

What is EWS & DME?, I read some of the info on the net which is about the immobilizer. Does it caused by my key program?. My key works just fine, lock and unlock got no problem.

EWS is the immobilizer, DME is for engine management. Lock and Unlock doors is control by GM5 module. Once your engine can start for sure EWS and key dont have problem.

Try checking the air filter housing too. For N42 Engine the AF housing quite tricky to instal. If not installed properly massive air leak at the bottom can also cause problems.

Did anyone remove the air filter housing lately?

This morning i haven't try to start the car bro. How to know either the starter or crankshaft sensor is the faulty.

If the starter is faulty then you will not be able to start at all... I suggest connecting the diagnostic machine and see if there are any error messages stored

The BMW key have two functions:-

1. To sync with GM5 module to open the door via remote control. This have a revolving code and a fixed code which will also check with the DME module.

That mean, I can program my key to open your door but I cant start your car.

2. The second function is another chip in the key. The Identity is check by proximity. i.e. when the key is inserted into the ignition slot.
When the ignition key is turn on (position 1 or 2), the EWS module will send a signal to ask an ID from the key. When it received the ID,
it will validate it and send another revolving code to the key, the key will be "written" and answer back and this is done in a split of a second. It all goes well, the EWS will tell the DME that it is OK to start or enable the "STARTER TO CRANK".

Please see the picture below when the wrong type of key is USED.

Oh yeah, there is a 3rd function. You charge the key battery when it is inserted in the ignition slot.

Thanks a lot for the info,

Yesterday i try to inspect my battery first before go to second stage, The negative terminals full with some sort of "habuk kuning putih". Also got so many at the bottom of the battery. Then try to clean all that. After clean the thing, my car did start as usual. "Wallawei", small thing can cause me headache. What Jarance said is right. The battery. By the way what is the "habuk kuning putih". The thing is like produced by the battery. Is my battery is not suitable for the car?. I just changed April last year. Just using it for 1 year.

Thanks all

The white thing is the oxide material. it is caused by moisture and the charging of the battery.

They are water soluble. Just use hot water (not boiling) and pour on it and it will dissolve the oxide.

Oxide is a bad conductor and will prevent the flow of current. You need a good contact to achieve high

current to drive the starter which will sometime draws about 200 amp during cranking.

Tips: coat the battery terminals with grease after tightening to prevent oxidation from occurring.
