Hello guys,Sometimes my E46 318i having difficulty to start.Not every time but usually happen maybe once in 30-35 time when i try to start my car.Usually it took 4-5 times retry and it should start.Last night was the worse.When i try to start after about 3 hours park , it cannot start at all.It crank but wont start.After a few times try to pressed and pump the pedal , finally its okay.FYI , I just service my car that evening.Took me almost half an hour to finally succeed to start the car.And this morning everything is like normal.Just single crank and its start normally...Hurmm any sifus know why this is happen ?

Hi, a few items to check...
1. Fuel pump? when you turn the key, before cranking, do you hear a whining sound? If not then your fuel pump needs to be looked at.
2. As Gendong suggested , might be your crank sensor, this one need mech to check at.
3. Check the battery also, last change?
This happens after the service you mentioned or has happened before that?

get it scan first.
scan one of my friends car and it mention it was the crankshaft sensor.
His symptom was car have difficulty to start. after engine cool down then can start.
Change the crankshaft sensor and all is back to normal. I think he paid RM350 for part and labour.
btw, his model is also 318i

Bro, i had the same problem like yours.......shiok2 it can start, shiok2 it can die on you anytime the car feels like it.
Well, what i did was change the battery (last change was 5 years ago) and also the starter. That was done about 2 weeks ago and until now still running fine.

Did a check yesterday.But on scan didn't found any problem.Formen said need to check either crank sensor ,fuel pump relay or fuelpump itself.
Ahhh forgot to check battery date hehehe.Will check it ASAP
