Hey, a couple of questions;

1. What's the fuel quality like in Thailand? I read somewhere that during the Satria GTi clubs' drive to Phuket, many of the GTis fell foul of low fuel quality.

2. What kinda condition are the roads in on the route up to Phuket?

3. If it's going to be a speed limited "rally" up to Phuket... it's going to be bloody boring now, isn't it?

4. What's the cost?

5. Can participants elect to stay in other hotel/resorts on Phuket?
Hello,

The answers are as your numbered questions...

1. Fuel quality is a fair bit lower than ours and therefore it is recommended for you to bring your own octane booster to fill.

2. Road conditions are ok for normal cars but the lowered and modified may find it a little bit harsh.

3. I need to remind you and everyone that this is NOT a rally, NOT a competition or anything of that sort. It is a social Inter-Car Club DRIVE cum convoy to Phuket. All to garner more interaction between club members.

Speed limit is as per standard convoy code of conduct. It may seem boring but then again, others do enjoy a nice relaxing drive. Short bursts of speed can be done but at own risk of saman.

4. It is RM2,000 per car! This includes two drivers!!! You must have two valid driver's license holding participants in the car at all times. Just in case you get bored and want to sleep. We will post the rules & regulations of the drive as soon as possible.

5. Yes, you can. But at your own cost and do remember, the fee you paid already includes the accomodation costs, activities and etc.

Hope that answers your questions.... If you have more, you can get in touch with either Tyke or me.

Thanks and regards.

Imagine one hundred cars on a convoy going for short burst of speed. Hahahaha.....better not set world record for longest pile-up. Choi! Touch wood! But it's recommended to drive slow and enjoy the scenery. Wanna race, go track lah..... :D

the scenery on our highways are not picturesque.... sure bored to death, especially on long drives, but no so if use trunk roads

haiya.....drive wont really be long and boring as the convoy will be broken into a few packs to ease congestion and confusion, not to mention the boredome of being last in line if it is really a 100 car in a row convoy! :lazy:
also, whn in thailand we will be utilising certain 'B' roads.

DD,thanx as alwiz for your brief but well put explanations and advice.....
but i still expect u to join the drive!!! :nyehehe:

come lah!!!scared ah????huh?huh?huh? ;)

rgds,

After quite a long Q & A then what ....? Anybody going or not ?

Before I decide to participate, I would like to know the following:

1) Confirmed car clubs that are participating
2) Detailed itinerary and programme
3) What does the RM 2,000 cover? Is fuel, toll, food, etc covered with this fee
4) Any VIPs invited/confirmed?
5) What press will be attending?
6) Is insurance provided?
7) Is there breakdown assistance during the convoy?
8) Any police escorts?
9) How will immigration be handled?
10) Who are the confirmed sponsors?
11) What is the objective of this drive?
What are the benefits to the participants?

Sorry if I am asking many questions but I believe that these are very basic and pertinent details that would help club members here make an educated decision.

I for one am interested, but the details provided are very vague. RM2k is not peanuts, I would like the confidence that this event has all the neccessary standards of an international event before I decide. I am sure that a lot of members are interested but have trouble justifying/quantifying the value of this event.

Thank You.

- Only by your insurance company and what is covered by the Thai third party insurance. :getyourfactsright:

7) Is there breakdown assistance during the convoy?
- Yes there will be but participants are advised to throughly check to make sure cars are in order and to bring your own, battery water, coolant, spare engine oil, octane booster (important as their petrol not as 'good' as ours).

Just note that the Emergency Response Team is by proton and their expertise on our very temperamental cars may be limited. We are hooking up with AAM as well but as yet unconfirmed.

10) Who are the confirmed sponsors?
- Check the Ad that was placed earlier.... kalau tak nampak, then pegi buat mata!

11) What is the objective of this drive?
- To have FUN
- To bring the 'kataks' (members) out of the 'tempurung' (own clubs)
- Get to know others
- Have a little holiday
:yahoo:

What are the benefits to the participants?
- To learn to appreciate other cars through the emphasis by the enthusiasts of the other clubs... and to spread BMW love to the world!
- To buat kawan
- To learn how to read a 'TULIP' (no, not the flower but the road guide)
- To get face in the papers
:eek:k:

That's it... now I want to retire....
:lazy:

But, if you guys are really as interested as Kevster to know all these details, just PM me for my number... or if you have supersonic eyesight, check the Ad for my number!!

they shd all be back sometime this week. not sure if any bmwclub brethren went or not, tho.
