Officially, the criterias are : areas where accidents frequently occur; areas where speeding is usually one of the main causes for the accidents; areas where human police controls are difficult.

I believe these are for Singapore. Somebody got a bit confused and put in the link to JPJ's Kejara system at the end of the email. Furthermore, we have not used $ sign for quite sometime already, it has been RM for a long long while.

In the Kejara system, speeding only has 3 categories: 6 points, 8 points and 10 points. And the amount of fine is determined by the police, which is almost always on a different scale from JPJ's system (the police have more ranges and steps when it comes to calculating speeding fines, unless of course it's an all out maximum fine season).

And the smallest offence in Kejara system is 5 points. Biggest offence is 15 points, which is supposedly enough to get your license impounded for 6 months.

actually some areas where speedtraps are set is not even in the mentioned criteria..its just an area where they can get the most 'victims'.one example..stretches of long 4-lane highways where the speed limit is 80 or 90kph.i mean,on a 4-lane highway u'll find that its rather dificult to actually keep within that speed.

Brother,

Do you know what radar are they using? X, K, Ka, Ku ???????

I thought our regular "under the bridge pillar" cop uses laser, instead of radar?

Guys, my advise to you is dont use the detector.. now the police normally use
laser, and if you use jamming device or VG2, the police also have the anti - anti detector.. so, if kena saman, just pay (up to you on the 'mode of payment', such as wait for discount or 'jolok'..)

Been caught once while using my detector, the 'saman' i paid on the spot is quite high, or else you want your car impounded ! the funny thing is, i even got back my detector, as the cop said he has a lot already. My detector now i believe is obsolete..

But,if you really insist on one, only by VALENTINE brand, rated the best in US car magazine. Price almost usd 400 (rm 1200).

Just my 2 cents
