Lets do a little survey here. How many of us knew about this feature?
I do. I noticed it as soon as I started my first reverse.
How many of us bother to read the owners manual?
I do even for my rentals. I spend time in the car park to familiarize myself before driving off.
In the UK, when someone buys a car, the dealer will take time to explain and demonstrate the various features of the car before handing the keys over to the new owner or letting him/her leave the forecourt. I witnessed this.

The side mirror of his e39 will auto turn down when i put the stick to reverse. Amazing! As my e39 can not do this when reserve! Our car spec are 100% same.
I wonder why? This is set-able by computer?
nazrie;455048 said:semua boleh lah.. as long as the mirror adjust switch is put to driver's side.. because when u put to passenger's side means designer assumes u can and want to adjust to whatever position u want immediately. If on driver's side means u can adjust driver's side and hence passenger's side is automatically tilted for reverse for u to see the curb or watnot.

Not all E39 have this feature. Nothing to do with the computer setting. It has to come with the built-in motor at the passenger side door mirror.
dvng;559117 said:i would suggest to keep it engaged as the motor becomes sticky after a while if not regularly used as with any other items. The rear power windows is also one of of those things that gets stuck as nobody really winds down the rear windows.
