alxy...how is ur navigation sys? was it the antenna faults?

Not the antenna, was the cable. Apparently Freddie was out of original cable stock last time and gave me make-do cables only. He said he gave me the original cable this time. So far so good touch wood......

hi bros, got an 525i 04 jap spec. No budget. Hope sifu can give 2 cents.

I need to listen to malaysia radio and play dvd. RM5k enough to do the trick ?

Anyone can pm me where the best place and person to go for my upgrades ?

Million thanks....

If u are planning to watch DVD... prepare to add another 2-3k for it :D

More actually, as you would need to buy the video module as well. 5K i don't think is enough. You would first have to upgrade your software version too.

bro the gps cable is one sensative, manja and diffucult part of all this installation..:stupid:

since i am so lazy to install the ori gps antenna on the roof fin, i use the equilvalent antenna module instead...first obstacle was i have no idea my windscreen is the 'comfort glass' type which has metallic material inserted between the laminated glass...so placing the antenna at proper place took me so damn long...afta that when i found it i go potong the cable to have a length just nice to the CCC then it doesn't work anymore...hhahaha

tried a few method of cable patching then finally got it work just recently...i must say that the navigation system is catered for vehicle nav usage compare to the garmin that I have been using which is more as a portable navigation system...both has its on good point...

bro, i agree the gps is much nicer than use than the hand-held ones, but my only gripe now is the map. There are still several places that are not in the map, some of which I find ridiculous. Any way we can convert Garmin (or other formats) maps to BMW format? BMW updates the maps like 1-2 times a year only. Can't rely on them.

Also, the search function is totally un-user friendly. Try to input Genting Highlands to see what I mean! You would first have to know the city is Bentong. Point is, it doesn't do an exhaustive search, and you would really have to know the city/area first before zooming in on the right location. Or am I missing some trick here?

So bottom line is that the whole operation will cost close to RM20k?

10193 is the last few digits of my VIN.

Wow.

Not worth it then. Below RM10k for the widescreen, dvd viewing, gps, i might consider. :)

Anyone? hehe second hand retrofit parts to sell?

hi all,
i just done the following

1. install Dension 500 GW ( for ipod, usb and aux ) : RM 2.3
2. Conversion of CCC from Jap to Local / EU at raymond auto : < RM 9.5k
3. getting korean ACM and reverse cam to install < Usd 500

so i think bro k3nny its very near what you want , if u forgo CCC conversion
use Korean ACM + Reverse cam + DVD player i think its posible.

but do not take my price literary as my one lots of parts i DIY to install into my e60 and order direct.
thus cheaper by alot , it make me sick to see the local ICE company make near 200% margin on item such as those.

Think should cost you about RM13K only, not near RM20K. Mine was around there, but without reverse camera

P/S assuming you have Jap-spec.... means iDrive + widescreen + GPS antenna exists already

alxy: dont have.

I am driving AB CKD 2006 E60 525i Sport

:(

nevermind lah.

tahan and wait until the F10 comes out. I know the roads better than the GPS anyways! wahhahaha

Just get any Garmin.... costs around RM1K only, and probably more functional. Problem with BMW SatNav is lack of road updating. Have been around a bit and yet some places still appear as green without roads (e.g. Solaris, Desa Parkcity)

update ,
project completed

1. CCC conversion from JAP to Local/eu CC @ raymond auto , retain HIFI capability
2. Installed updated Picture in picture bmw e60 video module ( can plug in dvd player , garmin oem / AV1 - AV 3 , RGB )
3.Installed Dension 500GW for my ipod/iphone
4.install bootlip reverse camera , totally invisible to naked eye ( wide angle ).

now moving on to bodykit or FLIR camera for night vision.

shit, overkill installation ?

HOw much is the damage to the wallet?

a lot of DIY and help from raymond auto,
plus a lot of parts i order direct from manufacture / principal

Total damage till today around 13 - 14k.
till now . gulp ......

wooh!!! that's a lot!!! but as long as you love it, there's no measure to what you have done to your ride, right??
I don't think that you need night vision for the time being... why don't you go for bodykit instead?? :top:

bro thule,

i agree , i have change my 16" to the 17" std rim , i am little scare of bodykit

1. safety
2.too much ah beng , seen too many bmw put only bodykit some worst rojak one also got ( ac + m + beyton +hartge ) in one car

if body kit maybe 1 or 2 spoiler

next project could be better suspension H&R maybe.

for suspension, just go for eibach springs + H&R anti-roll bar & eibach spacers guarantee u no regrets...h&r would be too harsh & low for 17" and no bodykit

ess530i: I am actually on 20' rims running 255/30/20 up front and 285/25/20 rears with H&R sport springs.

Its not that bad lar i guess. I work in Port Klang and i can honestly say we have some of the WORLDS worst roads in my opinion due to the container trucks going in and out but its still bearable.

I actually tried Eibach before but as i was using the M-Sport springs that came with my 525i M-Sport, i felt the car was softer and higher after the Eibachs? So i went to H&R. :)
