Once you select Audio Aux... this is where I access Garmin and also my DVD player...
Normally the mechanic will install another button somewhere on your steering... depending on how they install, push the button once will go into Garmin GPS screen... push one more time will go into DVD player screen (CD, MP3 or DVD movie)... like shown below:

wah bro thule trillion thx to u la. thx for rushing the pic n post it here for me. appreciated it. hehe...let me buy u a drinks when im in kl ok? hooray now i can snap it in my hp n show it to my mechanic. let see how n wat is his explanation tis time round. will keep u update on tis once i see my mechanic tis weekends.
between how ur gps so far? 100% accuracy? did ur gps take u to "holland" instead of ur desire destination? i was told tat gps is not 100% accuracy. how truth / fact is tis stament? maybe bro thule u can shade some light to me on tis since u was on gps now, hehe

:D GPS to me is actually a plus... I use it in my car because I think that it's COOL... lol!!! I don't need GPS in KL... as I'm very familar with most of the roads in KL.
Maybe next time when I go to JB, Ipoh or Penang la.... :D so far my Garmin is quite accurate. Just type in the street that I want to go.. and it will calculate the nearest route. But sometimes I didn't follow because those routes require me to pay toll :D I don't like tolls unless it's very jammed.

ahh...tats bad. gps make you pay more in tat sense. i thought the purposes of gps is to help rider save fuel, save times + save trouble. lol in tat case gps take u go holland for toll pay. well i need gps badly coz im totally unfamiliar in kl drive. always lose my way there. between how u enter those street address? 1 by 1 words punching from the i-drive knob? or faster then tat? as i was told, you need lot of times in keying in the address to gps. so hows ur done in tat sense?

not really... sometimes I do go outstation... so it's very handy :D
just remember that GPS is not human brain... they don't think for you on how to save money ok??? hahahaha... the GPS is merely doing their job on how to get you there in fastest time, which I think is good enough.. so you save on fuel & time + trouble loh... lol!
about entering street address... they have a Remote Control for you to use. you will get used to it very quickly, as the Garmin is quite user-friendly... just play around with it! Don't worry, you will do just fine with the GPS stuff :top:

If I'm not mistaken, you can choose avoidance settings. Get out of topic a while here. Garmin on my mobile phone allows me to use a setting to avoid tolls.

just finished installing all the parts yesterday and going to AB for coding later...after installation and upon battery reconnection the gigibiru not recognized but all other function ok...

will post pic later...

finally finish installing it, was not able to code it at AB as the person doing it was on leave...so paid a visit to freddie (obermaier) to check if he could help me and it was a great coincidence that his SSS is on version 30 compare to the authorized dealer at v31.5...so it would be faster to code it as my car is also on version 30 without the need to update firsts to ver31.5.

The programming does not goes so smoothly as the CCC Gateway Module refuse to be coded and all devices on MOST bus was disable...finally it was coded but in another car...haha afta that all goes on quite smoothly but some hickups on the communication of the SSS.

Here's some of the pic...

forgot to mentioned i also met bro alxy at obermaier on that day as he got his car's GPS antenna checked...

t2ribena: awesome work man.

ive been looking at doing this for ages, which is why i started this thread.

if you dont mind sharing, how much did the entire process cost you and any hiccups along the way?

the cost and where to obtain said parts would really be good for general knowledge here or you can PM me.. :)

Thanks so much for trying this out! hehe

the end result is great :top:
Your ride will be more fun from now on... :D
Congrats MR DIY!!!

Bro, would you be able to share the part number(s) of this retrofit kit ?? I've a CKD and dead keen to retrofit in a kit like this. If can, please PM me the cost of the kit as well if you don't mind. Tq.

Yup....met bro t2ribena at Freddie's that day. He's the real sifu! At best most of us just barely understand what's happening to our rides. Bro here is actually modding things himself! His best mod? Probably the FUNCTIONAL shift paddles on his steering wheel. Yum!

alxy...how is ur navigation sys? was it the antenna faults?

t2ribena,

would you be able to produce a step by step DIY for the pro nav retrofi?

i have all the parts for the job. what i'm not looking forward is fitting the 'high' idrive controller - not too clear on how to take the centre console apart.

apart from that is the coding part - from what i gather it can be a bit of hit and miss for some cars, especially with previously coded parts.

well done on your retrofit....

if i am not mistaken the kit should come with the retrofit instruction unless you bought all the items separately.

Please consider getting the BMW TIS and WDS when you are going to DIY ur car...getting 2nd hand information here will be risky. :top:
