ess530i: I am actually on 20' rims running 255/30/20 up front and 285/25/20 rears with H&R sport springs.

Its not that bad lar i guess. I work in Port Klang and i can honestly say we have some of the WORLDS worst roads in my opinion due to the container trucks going in and out but its still bearable.

I actually tried Eibach before but as i was using the M-Sport springs that came with my 525i M-Sport, i felt the car was softer and higher after the Eibachs? So i went to H&R. :)

agreed with u on the roads @ port klang...container trucks r major cause but i thought the road builders had somethin to do with it too. lets not go too deep on suspensions on this navi thread, its about personal preference i guess. u are OK wif 20's so there shouldn't be anythin about the ride u can complain about...thats the price u pay for beauty. our fren dark1234 on the other hand changed from 16's to 17's it tells a lot about his preference for comfort over beauty so i guess eibach would be a better choice for him...just my personal opinion

skycon: spacers are metal plates you add between your rim and your hub to increase the track & stance of your car. it improves both appearance & handling. i have 15mm spacers at the front & 20mm at the rear...

ess530i: The roae builders, the container trucks, the government. Blame everyone!! ROAR.

Cant be me spoiling the road right? :p

hahaha

Im on 20s but when i jump into a 523i with non-runflats and non-sport suspension, wow... a world of difference! SOOO COMFY. I can see where hes coming from. hehehe

Price i pay for beauty? No lah.. its the price i pay to save money. my rims get bengkok SO often because of the stupid roads here that these cheap 20' taiwan rims can be changed often. Can keep spare also because theyre cheap. :D

VERY VERY cheap. :D

09 map update

bro, i agree the gps is much nicer than use than the hand-held ones, but my only gripe now is the map. There are still several places that are not in the map, some of which I find ridiculous. Any way we can convert Garmin (or other formats) maps to BMW format? BMW updates the maps like 1-2 times a year only. Can't rely on them.

Also, the search function is totally un-user friendly. Try to input Genting Highlands to see what I mean! You would first have to know the city is Bentong. Point is, it doesn't do an exhaustive search, and you would really have to know the city/area first before zooming in on the right location. Or am I missing some trick here?

So far, there has been alot of PM to me to ask regarding the Nav Pro Retrofit...

Firstly the costs, this is subjective and no fixed costs in the market. Every solution provider has their own source and thus the diff costs.

Sourcing from over the sea for example eBay, firstly take ur own risk and if u buy or wanted to buy the used Nav Pro then with the Progman/SSS/CIP coding via the OPS/OPSS used mostly by BMW dealer and third party workshop here is not possible. Most e60 used electronics cannot be coded into another car. What you can do is to install and use as it is and losing alot of the factory fiitted accessories functionality like PDC, Logic 7, gigibiru, ipod, cd changer and sometime even the oil indicator!

Dear sifus,
In simple english, what can we do to upgrade the system in our car and where and how much should we pay for all these?Thank you so much

Few options possible, depending on what variant your car is (Jap, UK, local). Main ones being:

1. Upgrade your CCC software if it doesn't have AUX-IN, then add a 3rd party DVD player, GPS and radio tuner. This should be in RM6-7K range I think
2. Change CCC. Around RM8-10K. Then can also add DVD player as option.

For me, I have Jap-spec, so I changed the CCC and added in a DVD changer.

Note that I am quoting for Jap-spec only. Other variants, e.g. local, do not have Satnav ready, so you would need to add in the GPS antenna, etc....

So if you want proper advise, let us know exactly what you want to do and what kind of set-up you have at present

You can actually install a reverse camera even without changing the CCC or DVD player... but I have to warn you that they will drill a hole on the car boot to fix the mounting... how i know?? coz i did it last year...
what you have to do is to install a 3rd party interface and then the camera can be integrated into your iDrive... please get a good interface ok??? should cost you about RM3000++ for both :top:

My recond Japanese e60's CCC was damaged and the dealer has agreed to replace it. They have since found a CCC UK spec. I am happy to have the CCC Euro. However, the workshop/dealer told me that they could not install /replace the CCC as Japan CCC has two slots - the flash disk which make it compatible - while US Spec does not have this flash disk. I cannot understand why it cannot be done. Appreciate your help.

Guys,

I am planning on getting a 07' e60 Jap spec 525 M-sport and hope to get an idea of how much it will set me back to the following electronics working:

1. Malaysian radio frequency
2. GPS
3. DVD
4. Reverse camera

From my reading of this thread, I supposed the replacement of the CCC is inevitable, right? Would appreciate if you could advise what will be involved and how much all these equipment and work (including labour cost) is estimated to cost me.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have been driving my E60 for almost a year and now its time to upgrade.
I have read through the whole thead and found very valuable information but still lacking some infor that I really needed. (here mostly discussed on Japan/UK spec)

My ride is 520i CBU with local specs (reg end 2004).
Small LCD screen and no DVD or SatNav .... just a plain ones.

My dream is to have navigation systems, watch/play DVD, TV with affordable price.

What I can summarised for myself to upgrade are : (please do comment if I am wrong or miss something)

1) Mine local spec (single CD player + small screen) is M-ASK, need to upgrade the software so that I have the AUX AUDIO or AUX-IN ? No need to change CCC, just upgade software of M-ASK ?

2) After software upgrade (AUX-IN), then I can install with 3rd party equipment like Garmin GPS sw + antenna, DVD player, TV function, reverse camera ? All this is displayed at screen and remote control to be used ? Not control by iDrive ?

3) I can also opt to change the CCC to get all functions controlled by iDrive ?

All above will cost RM6k-8k.

Thanks in advance for the inputs.

I'm also planning to do exactly the same thing (no. 1 & 2) since CCC will cost a lot more. I just found the shop which had done the installation before (this is the most important), only waiting for extra money now :). As I was told I need to pay for:
1. A hardware 'interface' with software upgrade so I can have the aux (cost approx RM 2,200)
2. Kenwood gvn (cost RM 2,500) - the main reason I need this (but input will be using the supplied remote control)
3. Optional dvd player, tv receiver, reverse cam, IR remote control at steering,

Get a second opinion... PM me if u want the contact

Pls check latest Motor traders, one shop can do the interface with s/ware upgrade plus 8-DVD changer (installed in the boot), GPS and reverse camera for RM7K only.

I think this is very good deal
