Hi guysI can't open my rear bonnet completely- tried using alarm keys and manuals but it doesn't work. All the jerking pushing and yanking doesn't work. I'm out of ideas here fella.Dashboard appear sign "Trunklid open"-strange !!. Please any one ever experienced the same incident and know how to trouble shoot can give me some idea. :hmmmm2::banghead:Thanks

never experienced this.Sounds like a jammed lock catch.

The door locks seem fine? Have you tried opening using the key at the boot itself? maybe it is manually locked. Just guessing here.

Salam brader problem partly fixed and safely drove back to KL today. Justin Conversion BMW specialist in Bakar Arang Sg Petani solved the case- he suspected the Motor or wiring attached to the bonnet is giving the problem. Can't wait any longer for him to fixed entirely, so I just pray and continieu my journey.
Problem still exist
1) Bonnet can only open via manual
2) Trunk lid open sign appear again
3) ABS warning appear....
Gotta wain until weekend to send my baby to specialist in seremban.

brader affan and KGB
thank you for your good advise...
I guess this is a period for new owner like me to learn how to handle the kind of masterpiece aka BMW...
so kena banyak bersabar la kannn

bro,the e39 boot lock is controlled by an electric actuator and there is also a microswitch inside the lock actuator which activates the boot light and the trunk open warning.my guess is your lock actuator is rosak oledi.cost approx rm200++ if i recall to change.i fixed mine by glueing the gear assy with gam gajah and still ok till today (been almost 6 months now).

you can always open the trunk manually but if the actuator assy is stuck "open" then you may not close the boot (as has happened to me).but me being cheap,i DIY everything lo......
