I have been reading and looking around BMWs as well as looking around mudah.my. There are a couple of E30s near my house that always makes me drool each time i walk back home from work and its time for me to get my own one. My interest lies between the Series 3 E30, E34 and Series 5 E36. Though i love Series 7 but the road tax are expensive enough that i could get a new nice lens (am a photographer). Here are my questions;Q1. What are the price i should be expecting for a Series 3 and Series 5. Though i was offered by a couple, for example 525i for RM20k. Driving experience was a blast despite me going very slow due to phobia is still lingering inside me. With some experience on taking care on my previous car, i did some checks on the car and find it pretty well maintain.Even with service records proofed, i turn down the offer as i am not sure which direction am i heading to for the pricing. So would appreciate that i can get advice on this.Q2. Personal Loans, this is quite a worrisome to me. I have a full time job but its not taxed as its a variable income as i work with oversea clients so my income goes to Paypal and cash in to bank. So means i can't get any letter support from employer, salary slip etc.. Is there any way i can get a loan from this manner of income? I have yet to ask the bank around as i think its best to get some advice here before i take actual action.Q3. Roadtax, this will be quite a different question. I couldn't wonder myself that some people pay 6 months for their road tax. Why is that? That's all for now. Hope that my questions doesn't bore you any moment ;)

I would suggest you familiarize yourself with the different generations of 3, and 5-series. Each generation is priced differently, with the newer ones costing more of course.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_3_Series

For example, an e30 can be anywhere from 9k for a beaten up example to around 20-30k for a restored example. e36 starts from 20+k to 40k and even more if it is a coupe or convertible, or an M3. e46s starts from around 60k for the 2001/2002 cars, I believe.

The next thing you wanna consider is the model (318, 320, 325, 328, M3) and their respective performance. Many on here will tell you to skip the 318 and 320 and go for the 'real' BMWs i.e 325, 328 etc. If you can afford it, definitely go for the 325 or 328.

Thanks for the guidance and my bad for not putting the specific models of interest. I indeed actually seeking for a 318, 325, 328 and 525. I have tested the 525 for a couple of hours (including the time in traffic jam) and it was love at first sight. Current budget is 35K.

Also i have a question that i missed out last night :

Is it ridiculous to buy a car from neighbouring state? Though i was given the confidence that its nothing wrong to do that but i still lack the trust on doing so.

525 what model? E24, E39 or E60? I believe with your intended budget, you are obviously talking of E24?
Secondly, that is nothing ridiculous buying a car from neighboring state, unless what you meant is neighboring country.
Thirdly, since you income comes from pay pal, your receiving bank would be able to verify your income, btw, surely you are not looking to financing a 20k purchase, are you? And furthermore, if the couple can furnish you service records of the car, why turn it down?

The 525 i am looking for is a E39. The couple offered me the 525(E39) for RM20k which is to me quite skeptical that is why i turn down despite the complete service record. Its the fear of hidden problem is what that makes me turn down.

I am planning to finance RM35K and will talk to the bank on the variable income as supporting document for the loan. ;)

RM 20k for e39 525i with complete service records...I don't believe it and I smell something is not right here. Perhaps a stolen car, car without engine. It could well be a e34 525i as the price of RM 20k seems right.

Nevertheless for your info, e39 525i going market price varies between 75k to 90k.

I was told that it is a black listed car. Couldn't get the listing in mudah.my now. I will keep that in mind on the pricing. Thanks Herbert!

Even for a black-listed car, e39 525i cannot be selling for RM 20k !! Perhaps the deal was you pay CASH RM20k and you carry-on paying the monthly instalment. You can sometimes see this type of deal from mudah.com.

Regarding Q2, You could be considered self employed. Just prove to the bank that you have a valid recurring or steady income by showing your paypal and bank statements. I have no problem securing home loan although my income is paid in the form of western union and paypal. And yes, my income is taxed and it helps when applying for loan.
