Stanley, guess what?.....you can also test ride which bike you fancy at AB. I saw the other day a new F800 with an AC pipe. Yes there are options for BMW bikes just like their cars. Hope that bit of racun cements the bike deal for you. Go see Fadil at AB.

Ive been an ambassador for BMW bikes having two bikes at my disposal,The 1200s and the 1200RT.Both bikes are above average in their class but my favorite had always been the GS .That thing would outrun some of the best sports bike up or down any hill or mountain(try Bkt.Tinggi or Genting).BMW bikes handle very well.If you are ever considering the GS,I say go for it.You can keep that thing forever.

I guess by now you know why I didn't make it to the 1000RR's test ride...Until i'm ready for my next bike in a couple of years,I'll avoid it and take the words of others who have tried it la.:top:

Hmmmm.......I might start a critical path on getting the GS instead........the F800 may be too powerful for me.......I am not a very experience biker on road.......ride safe majority of the time. I wonder on whteher BMW still have those 'Dakar' versions????........while I was posted in Chiang Mai a few years ago, I nearly ended up with a New unit at RM50k.....???......I am more to a dual purpose unit.......Any chance of you knowing of the going rate for the GS.......

Well said...If I were to get a bike (again) and a BMW for that matter...it'll be the GS...not only is it big its also very tall but it leans amazingly well...had a few runs with chippie up some hills and it sure gave me the run for my money... it'll eat many in the hands of the experienced..best part is, its also so versatile and multi purpose ridden, tours long distance comfortable and doubles up off road too..good all rounder

Stanley,

I think the GS with 1200cc is powerful enough. New one is around 110k or so, used units hold their prices pretty well, and generally go for around 90k or more I was told.

Rode the GS 1200 for 4 days in Europe, what an amazing bike and one of my ride partners (ian) offered to swap his RT for the GS, but nah...here I am with the RT at the Munich Niedelarsung.

This is Peter Dunn with the K1300s,

A little tight on the leather pants I see?hehe,What Mr.President said is quite about the right price for both the new and used ones. The GS is the best all rounder. The handling is sharper than knife.so sharp that if you've just hopped on the GS from a sport bike you would almost certainly oversteer.
The best part about a DP(dual purpose) is that you have the option of riding both motocross style and streetbike style.Down Genting your buddies are gonna watch in amazement as you stick your foot out and rim the tight corner past them(I always enjoyed that...hehe).The GS is after all a 1200 and it would easily pull way past 200kmh.In anycase it's almost silly to be riding at those speeds on a non faired bike(naked).IMHO,forget about the F800.From what I gather The GS is made for you(how's that for sales talk?)

AB Motorrad Sales person of the year!!......:top::top::top:.......actually I was thinking of the GS650, the 1200 is awesome but too powerful for me......just my 2 cents. I did test ride the 650 in Chiang Mai at AB CM........the Manager was hungry for sales and willing to slot in some freebies......hmmmmm.......will call AB Glenmarie to look see........

On the contrary Stanley,if I may,the 1200 is pretty forgiving if you ask me.It's a machine that could suit both an intermediate and an advanced rider too.I always get this question from newbies on bike forums if they should go for the 600s or the 1000s and here's my take on the issue.

At the end of the day, you're at the controls. It's all on your wrist. For instance, did you know you can actually drive a 507bhp M5 at 80kmh safely?(you get the idea?) If one wants to get killed,he could do it with even on a kapcai. What's gonna happen is,you think you're new and you ought to get something smaller like the 650 and the next thing you know, you like the sports and you become a much advanced rider and suddenly you think the 1200 would have been a better choice.I'm not a spokesman for BMW bikes anymore but I'll tell you,go for the 1200.you won't regret it.And by some strange reason you don't like it,PM me....I'll pick it up from you...at a massive discount la of course

bro Guna's spot ON .. i ve been telling would be bikers the same, just go for the 1200...my 1st bike was a 1100 beemer with no prob at all.. .. just know YOUR limits and not the bike's first.. I ve seen many jump from the 800 to the 1200 in a matter of few months...so, if u can afford it, just go for the works...just learn on it slowly..it's no competition..take your time.. IT IS NEVER A RACE out there when you are riding together..we tend to stick toggether..if u are slow, fine... we'll wait for u somewhere in front.. if u are fast, there's no prize either, then u'll have to wait for us.... unless u know how to ride fast and get the gratification from your actions safely..do it.. else, just enjoy the ride..U DONT HAVE TO RIDE FAST TO ENJOY THE RIDE AND THE CORNERS.. NEVER EVER LET OTHERS INTIMIDATE U INTO DOING IDIOTIC ACTIONS...GO at your own pace and you'll be fine... JUST REMEMBER , THERE"S NO PRIZE FOR BEING 1st or the fastest ..unless u r some mat rempit lah and some hot girl is waiting at the other end :D ..which I hope NOT! So, in short, the 1200 would be just as safe or just as dangerous as the 800 as the case may be as Guna has pointed out.. if u have the $$$ ,why not.. else , the 800 is just fine as well.. once I was on a durian ride to Sungkai, there was this man aged 65, bought a F800ST .. but after being left behind by yours truly :D because of lack of power(as compared to the 1200), the very next day, and I mean the VERY NEXT DAY, he went to AB and bought the K1200S C.Pfeiffer edition as well :D and yesterday , met him again and he's getting the s1000rr as well ...

Very well said bro Nazrie. :top: Now, my hands are very itchy to own a S1000RR. Kena racun teruk dah ni. Damnn!! :102:

Bikes and cars give you a totally different experience. Unfortunately, the risks and exposure to danger are also multiplied once you get on 2 wheels so it doesnt matter if you are on a kapchai or a 1200 beast. Might as well enjoy the wind in your face...
