Hi all, yesterday I got into a situation where my car idled erratically after I started the engine (hot start). Upon OBD reading at my mechanic I was told that the pre-cat O2 sensor is faulty. But after manual throttle reset the engine idle normally even though the check engine light is still on.So the mechanic told me that he'll reset the fault (meaning no check engine light anymore) and I were to drive my car until the same problem occurs. Only then if the OBD reading shows the same fault (O2 sensor) then he'll recommend me to change it.So I was just wondering if it is advisable to go for the used or aftermarket ones instead of the OEMs?I think the O2 Sensor is indeed the culprit since I got other symptoms as well (poor acceleration, high FC - 11.5l/100km for a 2.0) Thanks for reading and any comment is appreciated.

Get new one. I bought mine brand new from eBay. Mine came from USA seller.

All you need to do is get the part number for the O2 sensor. Then key in the part number in the search field in eBay and there u go. I bought mine based on the correct part number and it's Borch. Price was USD$100 and all in all together with shipping, it was only about RM380. AB quoted me RM1200 for the same thing.

Thanks Julian for the info. Was quoted around RM1k as well. Guess I'll find a new one from eBay. Thanks.

If possible get the O2 sensor tools as well so that u can DIY and save the labour.............
Then next time tell me where to buy the tools so that i can buy it for DIY too...........hehehhehehehe

Are you sure that the O2 sensor is faulty ?

As i understand, the 'fault' at O2 sensor means that ' another fault' triggered the O2 to register the 'fault'.
Dun go changing something which is sometimes not faulty.

check the following that triggers the fault:
1. Knock sensors
2. Air-Mass sensors
3. Cam sensor
4. Crank angle sensor
5. air-leak in the hoses
etc.

believe me, i have change it for my V8, but the fault still appeared. later i found out the inlet manifold had a small leak.(check there too)

cheers...
