I do think the present PM is more sensitive to the feedback of the rakyat, more so after the last election.

But who are his policymakers that came out with this indigenous plan of tiered subsidy? It was unnecessary to begin with.

I'd hope current PM will continue to do the right thing which in my opinion is to gradually reduce the subsidies (car duties included) and channel the money to programs that will generate more economic growth.

What the PM has done right is to appoint some new blood in helping him with the transformation and empowered them to make big calls such as pulling the plug on something of this scale for the right reasons. Personally I am excited about changes like these. The man who made the recommendation to scrap it is a miracle worker. I hope one day Malaysians will recognize his efforts and appreciate him. Can't say more but I hope he becomes PM one day :)

Actually, I'm more interested to find out who proposed such a scheme in the first place.

I'm just glad someone realized what a fool this scheme is going to make the gov look like if it was ever implemented.

Yahoooo no tiered scheme based on engine displacement. I can still enjoy 2.8 engine although paying high roadtax. Actually there are still many things can be save to be in positive. Malaysian Govt & people is not prudent enuff. Although a lot of thing I dissatisfied but I still love my country & hoping for the better to come. Its like you scold yr children to educate for their wrongdoing. Yup it can be frustrating but dun lose hope, there worst poeple than us out there:top:

3 ministers took firefly flights today. All different flights but arrived about similar time. I was in one of the flights.. Maybe there is already a lot being done

Can anyone really say that the gov is doing enough and/or the right things for the country right now?

Ah, so they found out that this is an impossible task & is no longer applicable. Not really good news, it's just news. I can imagine most foreign policy makers laughing after seeing this in the news, but I'm not laughing.

So how much did they spend on the whole process of:

1. Researching on why a subsidy system is required in the 1st place?
2. Researching on why the proposed subsidy system is not suitable?
3. Researching on what plan to propose next?

:22:

You mean to say 3 ministers taking cheap flights is a 'lot being done'? It's could be a start, but nowhere near a lot. IMO, the problem here is that our policy makers are trying to reinvent the economic wheel. But then again, this is just my humble opinion la.

Seems there are reports that the MyKad readers needed for the implementation of this tiered subsidy has already been booked with the deposit paid. Guess somebody will be making a quick buck out of this.

anyone surprised..?

You guys are funny... The system was stated to go live to public on May 1st? There would have been at least a month or so before of pilot runs for something this scale to go live. Meaning system was almost ready before it was canned as reported by the media. For systems of this scale, and ambition I am sure there would have been a lot more than just mykad readers which was committed and bought. Think about it...

It's about how money is wasted.

A plan of this scale should have been given more time for studies to be conducted.

you mean like the 'study' conducted on need for annual inspection of older cars?

money well spent and the beneficiary(s) include those who allowed it to happen and those who stopped it from going fwd. what ever happens in between doesn't get tracked because all are wastage and we have many waste collectors.
