navigation system.

hi sifus.....2 month ago i already bought my 318i e46 m-sport japan spec,completed with navigation system.The DVD player(alpine) located at the rear bonet and have 1 LCD screen infront the deshboard.My question is how can i use this navigation system in malaysia location?..should i update the navigation software?any suggestion from all sifus?hope you gusy can help me in this matter.

You'll need to replace the MKIV (the brain, which states DVD - does not play movie DVDs - just able to read DVD-roms for maps) to a version from US/UK.

While you are shopping for that, might as well look for a widescreen (ur LCD) from the above same region for it to play radio stations on our lcal frequencies.

These are bmw original options and used sets can be found in ebay, e46fanatics, m3forums, bimmerforums, etc. If you want new sets, go to Tisher BMW (getbmwparts.com)

Alternatively, you can go for aftermaket and retain your current set up. Install a Garmin map (comes in a blackbox) so you have navi on ur screen plus a dvd player to play movie dvds on your same screen.

How about if i just by the DVD maps?still can use?can you advise how much the cost?
