Got to know about this brand when speaking to a fellow CG who is torn between the more expensive Dynavin (RM2.6k) and other China-based brands (eg Hualingan, cost about RM2k the last I checked). It seems that this may be the cheapest available double-din DVD/GPS/USB player for E46 in the market right now, which cost less than RM1.2k (US355.90, shipping included).Orders can be made via Eonon's website of their eBay listing and unit comes with 2 years warranty. Not sure if are there any local distros who brought this in yet. From my research, it seems that the player features are the same as the more expensive Dynavin with few additional features such as the ability to adjust the color of backlighting. The only downside I can see is the iGo GPS navigation software which interface can be less user-friendly to some and does not come with Malaysia maps preloaded.Official website:www.eonon.com/Car-GPS/Specific-Car-GPS/BMW/D5150.htmlReviews from other forums:http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?10063-Eonon-D5150-(another-cheap-nav)-Optional-TPMShttp://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=990340Product video:

U can get this player locally la..Try to search in acc shop.

How much they selling boss? Haven't seen any so far when hunting for doubled-din. :D

still wondering to bite or not. there's the possibility of getting slapped with the 35% customs tax, but bro jarance said for single unit personal use might not get taxed.
the D5150 is the upgraded version from D5113 which was sold nearly 100 dollars more.

was anyone able to get a price quote from the supposed Eonon 'dealer' in the lowyat forums mentioned earlier?

Gotten a reply from their CS and they can only declare lowest at USD185 which may subject to custom tax since item value will definitely be above RM500.

Any audio shop which is selling this player including installation ? Can it be connected to a reverse camera ?

Hi guys,

I've been looking for a Dynavin player for quite some time and the only thing stopping me from buying it is the pricing. Even for other brands/models the cost would easily be RM2k and above.

While browsing the forum, suddenly I stumbled into this thread and started to read more about this Eonon D5150 player.
My first impression about this player is "Wow, it's cheap. Suite my budget".

Because money is not easily earned, I need to make sure that the player cater for my need. So I begin reading extensively all the links that Wingzee provided, from the E46fanatics to ZHPMafia and even the Eonon website.

In the end, I took the plunge by buying it through eBay. It cost me RM1,200 including shipping plus additional RM250 for custom tax. I also purchased a CCD reverse camera worth RM60 so that I can install it together in one go.

The installation is not difficult and there are a lot of guides and videos available for me to refer to.

My first step into DIYs

Testing it before assembling it back

Perfect fit and greatly enhance my E46 dashboard

Good thing about this player is that I can select the path for it to run the navigation software

Comes with Kudos Navigator

I downloaded the trial version for Malaysia map

Testing using iGo

Working fine and now I have 2 navigation softwares that I can choose. By the way, better to store the softwares in a class 10 memory card for better performance (read it from another forum). One more thing, I put the GPS receiver near the rearview mirror/room light for better signal (read it from another forum too)

Don't know why the iGo software include this info?

I route the reverse camera cable through the back seat.

So far, I am really satisfied with the unit. Spend a total of RM1,510 (if only I can avoid paying the RM250 tax, haha) plus the satisfaction of doing it myself (with a helping hand from my colleague) is priceless.

The good:
1) Nice GUI
2) Can install and use various type of navigation software (still trying to make Garmin working on the unit)
3) Can use control buttons on the steering wheel. Same function as the original head unit, meaning that it will go to the next saved radio station (not searching) even when using GPS. We can even customized the buttons on the steering according to our preference.
4) Can add TPMS (I am going to add this in the near future since wifey is driving the car) so that the reading will be shown on the screen
5) Can browse phone directory/call log from the D5150 using bluetooth.
6) Sound quality do improved when listening to CDs

The bad:
1) Can't use my CD changer at the back (it's ok since the player support mp3)
2) Radio reception is not as good compared to the original head unit meaning sometimes got some slight noise (but not that bad, I can still live with it)
3) I got taxed by the custom even thought already declared it as gift

Disclaimer:
I haven't tried or use any other models/brands so I am not in a position to compare/comment but with this price, I am a happy customer (so does the other guys inside the forums mentioned above. Do read them, it is very useful)

Last but not least, a big thank you to wingzee for the racun.

Great piece of review, Wan. Hope others will consider this as a good alternative to the rest of the players since this is the cheapest available so far. Thumbs up for the DIY! :)

lol nice. someone took the first bite... but i was hoping to know what would it be like ordering from Eonon instead of eBay.

If i read it correctly, it is still using WinCE as OS..Dynavin is offering unit with Android. Well, i'd definitely prefer one running with Android OS as there will be bunch of apps that i can use with. I m currently using Dynavin with WinCE too though, have difficulties in updating maps etc (as it requires specific version of GPS software, which hard to find) cos Windows CE existed alongside with the dinosaur.

My experience with Dynavin's Android unit is not a pleasant one. Not sure if it's just the particular unit I am testing but the response is slow and interface despite sharing the same one as per the phones, is not as polished, probably due to the insufficient RAM. And no chances of updating the Android to the latest version/release as no support is available. The unit I tested was on Froyo or Gingerbread which limits the unit to older apps.

My experience with the installed unit Dynavin with WinCE is totally the opposite though. Despite few incidents of unregistered touches, it's far more smoother than it's Android counterpart. Not sure which map software you are running on but mine basically runs on a original version of Papago X8.5 which supports maps by Malfreemaps, which maps are updated every few months and available for free from the website. Installation was a breeze too.

Anyway, Dynavin cost almost twice as much as the Eonon and if given a choice today, would have gotten the Eonon any day. Despite some of its shortcomings (non-critical), I just don't find it reasonable to spend twice for as much for pretty much a similar HU.

and my dynavin is limited (not by function, but actual usage) to radio and usb usage only, with the occasional navi, obd and phone functions.....oh and while reversing...... sigh....

Came across this http://www.szenco.com/. Guys at the E46F had some good reviews of it. Android player at 1/3 of the price of dynavin and it may just seemed to be from the same factory!

I'm running papago8.5 too..was fine before but could not update recently, as the program will crash running the new maps, maybe I should copy from you then. Hehe
Anyway thanks for the feedback on Android unit, I wouldn't expect it runs as smooth as phone, considering its hardware, but didn't expect it's that bad also. Nvr got a chance to play with it. I guess I'll just stick with my wince dynavin for now.

azel,
You need to overwrite one of the file which cause UI issue. Will send to your email once I am free.
