Dear FriendsI have just replaced my 18” Hannman by19” ROH with 245/35 all round. When I am alone driving everything is perfectly fine, but when there are passengers at the back, the right rear wheels would rub against the fender very frequently. Where can I find workshop which does a good fender rolling job in Penang? Or should i just go to any Panel beater? Is changing of these tyres to 235/35, going to help? Thanks.

must be the springs. carried 3 fatties in the back of mine with no probs yesterday. am using 245/35 "19 but m-sport springs

Not exactly. I have found out from the previous owner of the rims that he gets the rubbing at the rear too. He is using M-Tech Sports Lowering kit. He asked me to go to the panel beater to turn in the fender a little (less than half inch) and it should clear.

I think it has got to do with the offset of the rims. If the offset has 5mm more, my wheel should clear perfectly without having to do anything.

I did a check online, it seems like most people having 19" on their E39 have their fender rolled. Another check I did with the famous workshop in Penang was that they recommend adding spacers to the rear. Not opting for this as it will compromise the comfort big time.

Got my fender knocked a little this morning and everything is fine now. Thanks.

i assume its the 5er in your signature

actually it's all about your offset, maybe it's too aggressive....i think 5mm inward & u'll be fine :top:

some people change spring, some roll fender, some change to wide body, the extreme ones even machine the wheels to shave some mm off

Yes, the 19"s are on my siliver E39, picture showing the 18".

I agree with you totally. I think 7 Series rims with 24mm offset would have been better off with big tyres than the 5 series ET20.

It has been labelled at the door frame that it should take 265/35 R18 but I'm only putting on 245.

I'm wondering if installing the M5 linings would be a viable option in Malaysia.

Wah.19 inches?? What Is The Feeling Driving 19 Inches Rim Ah?? Much Better Cornering??

I don't have the guts to test the speed, negotiate corners or other form of skill related routine on my ride. Doing all these up are just for the look only.

Improvement in performance? I don't feel it but the level of tyre noise increase from 235 tyre to 245 is just so unreasonably high. I was so used to the quiet ride on my 235/40 R18 Toyo T1R and now my two Pirelli P-Zero in front 245/35 and Dunlop Sport Maxx 245/35 behind are just simply noise generators.

In fact this is my wife's ride. I drive a company car and I am not suppose to do any fancy stuff on it.

Bro, my fenders are rolled...

To be honest when the fender is rolled my e34 can even use the 275/35/19.....which i used only for the rear until the tyre koyak while driving due to unaware punctured. Now changed back to 235/35/19, no problem whatsoever.

With 235/35/19 for the rear there is still a one finger free space between the tyre sidewall and the ROLLED fender. But its an e34.....

My E39 Ride Is Using 235/45 17 With Lower Sport Spring. The Tyre is Only 2mm Away From The Fender (Meaning No Gap At All). The Cornering Is Superb. I Did It At 120km/h, The Car Got A Little Bit Of Understeer, But It Is Fine, Very Syiok Woh, Haha!!! But Dangerous La.............

The 19 Inches Cornering More Perfect I Think..But Becareful To The Pothole In Malaysia......

potholes are evil! but "19's are utterly fantastic for cornering and annoying anyone who doesn't have "19's on ;-)

Glad to know that 19" actually have some real advantage apart from the look.
