Hey guys..I'm driving E28 525..Nowdays since i got back from Australia, my car drinks petrol like crazy..i filled in full tank last thursday and drove the car once to KLIA (normal cruising).. Others just city driving.. The petrol only lasted til Monday evening..What do u guys think that may caused the problem? (Other than using big rims)..Need help..Thanks.. Cheers

guys..
sorry for the lack of knowledge about cars..
wat is CO, AFM & TB?
Thanks

Cheers

CO=mixture of carbon dioxide + oxygen, can be measured at exhaust tail pipe by the CO check equipment.

AFM=Air flow meter, a device before air filter. It measure amount of air intake to engine.

TB=Throttle body, a butterfly valve that moves open or close when one leg depress accelerator.

I hope the above definitions are correct...hehe...

issit becoz b4 u wen the petrol price not rised yet...and now it is!...

i get bout 40km rm10 only...on my 2.8...

Thanks guys for the definition..

Mafia,
I dont think its because of the rise of the petrol price..
My car just drinks up petrol really fast.. cannot tahan..

Anyway, is there any particular workshop you guys could recommend me checking my CO, AFM & TB?

Cheers

DmC, it really quite hard to guage your fuel consumption without knowing
what is the distance that you have travelled for a full tank.

Secondly, I don't think AFM will affect fuel consumption much. If I am not mistaken
it affect your idling speed due to too rich in oxygen in the petrol and air mixture when
the vane of the AFM is struck.

A lack of power is more likely one of the sympthom of high fuel consumption.
This could be due to a simple problem of spark plugs fouling.

As mentioned by you, you seldom used your car when you are outstation.
Do you removed the battery terminals when you are not using the car.
If I am not mistaken, the AFM will reset the optimum driving curve if the
power is disconnected to the AFM. maybe, you should tekan a bit and let the
AFM to adjust and also burn up all the unburnt carbon deposited on the
engine block.

You can find a list of workshop where the forummer goes. Will post the link later.

OK here is the link. Click below...

DMC.. on the fair side, the 525 does drink a-lot of petrol, if it's not tuned well..mine was fine.. last me for 300kms odd for a full fill up..

or could be the 3 speed slush box, high rpm on the highway.. as for my e28b28 auto, the rpm reading at 100km/h is 1900rpm.. good for cruising..engine also quiet..

er, on kev touching the Co mixture is a good idea, did my it for my car, vely, vely nice..hehehe.. only thing 2 boxes not good enough, tea tarik also must be on the go..

regards.
