Puss taikache, how is yr Ipod project coming along ?

Anyone else manage to Install any Ipod adapter for E46? Would like to hear yr experience. I just picked up a Nano and is looking for neat ways to hook it up to my ride (w steering control etc so no FM modulator).
Hi folks,

I got one the Ipod interface installed on my E46. Was installed by AB.
While it does allow you to play the songs on your ipod, but you dont get the "ipod interface" feeling though. But all in all, if all of your music in in your ipod, and you cannot drive without your music.....then I recommend it.

Some points:

- The connector sits in your glovebox (and so will your ipod)

- They do have to disconnect your CD changer as the current BMW Business headunit cannot take in another aux device.

- You can use the steering controls and the headunit preset buttons to play songs from the 5 allowed playlists that you need to define, OR just play Random...

- The best feature is the random play - it works just like the shuffle play.

Bruce,
Can it display out the ID Tags info on the E46 BMW Business headunit player ?

I did. Heard pretty good comment on it, but no one is selling it locally in KL. I hate to order thing fr the net.

Is there any hope if mine is a year 2000 with the Navigation head unit???

cheers
Today a bit free so I've gone thru the JL's cleansweep manual, and apparently it is just a LOC (line output adapter) w DSP equalizer, that convert any stock player's highlevel output to 8V (max) RCA lowlevel output for hook up to aftermarket amp. It allow you to have the flexibility to adjust/correct the output signals to enable more dynamic to the signal. One added feature is to accept AUX input, so you can also hook up an IPOD or external devices like MP3 plyer, DVD handheld, etc to it.

It does well as a LOC, but definately is not an IPOD converter, as it lack of three main features that is crucial as an IPOD converter:
1) If doesn't "charge" your IPOD in car.
2) If doesn't display ID Tags of the IPOD songs on yr stock player
3) You can't control the IPOD from the steering control buttons

My 2c.

This is what I did to my car.

Its an e36 though, but the same modifications will suffice for an e46.
(Look way down the bottom)

Btw my installation has changed since last month, I'll get some new pics added later.
