Dear Folks/Sifus,I've been experiencing some issues with the original cd changer since the day i got the car..-Initially, i was unable to eject the magazine (stuck) / player unable to read the magazine as well..-Managed to get someone from an accessory shop to remove it for me (no symptoms why it was stuck).-Confirmed no more cartridge stuck issue but player still unable to read the magazine.-All of a sudden, 1 fine day it worked..i realized somehow the whole system got reset after battery was disconn/reconn for some aircon works to be done.-Each time i eject the magazine to insert new cd's, the original player fails to recognize the magazine "no magazine"..it seems like if i wana change some cd's in the magazine, i'll have to disconn/reconn the battery every single time i eject the magazine..Eventually I gave up on the cd changer, no more ejecting the magazine..Besides changing to a whole new player, is there any other solution? What might be the contributing factor?I prefer to maintain the originality of this car..Pls advice sifus..Thanks in advance..

Hi, you might want to install some sort of mp3 adapter which replaces the CD Changer..

There are a few available, most seems to prefer Dice. Google it up.

There's also Intravee, but that costs more with more features too.

bro, don't hv iDevices no worries. If you love old school style and has a cassette player on your HU, I would highly recommend this one for you... http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/Tape-Cas...er_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item3cb77334bc or even better with this one (cum with remote control)... http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/Car-Tele...er_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item5d300faad5

Pls DO NOT go for the cheaper one like this one... http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/New-Car-...er_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item3372ef72ec as the wired one may create some interfearence and noise to the music...

No cutting of any wire on your beloved bimmer. What u need is a SD card to store all your favorate songs in MP3 format then slot the card into the cassette adaptor and the adapter will just plug and play on your cassette player like a normal cassette but with CD quality sounds. I have one in my ride (e46 Y2003 N42) for more more than a year now. It works like a champ. play all my favorate songs (8 GB = 900 +- songs) with CD quality. Better still, I can use the multifunction control on my steering to naviagte (previous and next) the songs stored the SD card like what we did for the CD. When I'm out, I use it like a normal MP3 player as it comes with headphone. Lots of strangers think I'm crazy when they first saw me pressing buttons on a cassette tape and has a headphone connected to it... :) When comes to recharge the battery, just plug into the USB port on my laptop or the in-car charger. BTW, the battery lasted for about 6 hours for non-stop playback (more than enough for me to drive from KL to BP and back). One thing to note is that, I guess the stuff is from China, so the socket for the in-house charger will not work in M'sia. BTW, I bought mine for RM40 inclusive of postage. Hope this would help.

mafia, let`s come back to your cd changer problem, for me , I still prefer CD player or changer over mp3 & etc..

My suggestions:

1.Try to clean the cd laser lens in your changer, maybe you can use a long stick with cotton bugs to clean it, dip the cotton bug into swan alcohol, use water if you do not have alcohol. Or go to electrical or audio shop buy a CD/DVD Laser Cleaning kits.

2. Unplug & plug in those connectors use to connect to your cd changer, spray with Contact Cleaner if you have it.

Hope it help. Good luck.

bro, thanks alot for the suggestions..even i prefer to stick with cd changer too..but too bad, i've tried those options you suggested me numerous times before..still failed..Normally wen u eject the magazine, the cd changer will do a scan whereby the lens will run up and down..it will do the same when you reload the magazine back..but in my case, ejecting is normal, but when i reload the magazine, the lens fails to scan..eventually the player show "no magazine"...(unless if i disconn the batt and reconnect it back)..i gave up..went to accessory shops..most of them are tyring their best to convince me to change to lcd or a new cd changer..business ma..except 1 guy who really put effort to rectify the issue, but still he failed..hmmmm...

Bro,

Why dont you consider an MP3 FM modulator? Frankly speaking, I am selling this item and you can store your favourite tracks into the built in 4GB memory. Just plug the unit to your cigarette lighter socket and set the frequency to the same as your FM tuner and your tracks will be played. It's really cheap and sound quality is decent as well.. IF the in built 4GB is not sufficient, you can also use a micro SD card.. Check it out here :

The problem with the fm modulator is that it uses the radio frequency to transmit the sound thus compensate the sound quality like you had mentioned in your post.

Bro Yohannes, appreciate your suggestion...but i've had experience on a modulator, personally, i didnt like it bro..like bro e46_UDM said, it compensates the sound quality..besides im someone whoz deep into music..ever since then, Modulator is a big no for me..sorry bro...

Aha, no prob bro. Fully understand as the sound quality of an FM modulator is not good enough for me as well. Just that it's the cheapest , easiest solution!

Anyway, another was is to get the e46 face panel for single din head units, and plonk in a single din head unit with USB support. Totally no need for a CD changer anymore. That's what I did for my car. You will however lose the steering wheel control function but this can be overcome by purchasing an interface module which I have not done yet.
