235/40R18 is correct i think, even the Alpina Teilekatalog lists this as correct front size for 18s.

for E39 front should be 245/40/18 rear should be 275/35/18...however 265/35/18 still acceptable.

with 235/40/18, your speedo will over read by 1.3%...with 245/40/18 speedo will over read by 0.1%

ALL PS3 235/40/18 is made in thailand.
ALL PS3 225/40/18 made in hungary.

Different sizes are made in different country for michellin. But they claim that the standards are the same. Why they produce like that i have no idea.

Toyo Proxes T1R is good no doubt but wear faster because soft compound grip very good. just like the Toyo Trampio in fact T1r is even softer. And for toyos you need to put higher PSI because tire wall is soft. If you don't put in enough PSI your car will under steer. PSI for front must be 36 for rear 34PSI. I have used Toyo.

guys, which profile should E39 go for 18" 225 45 18 or 225 45 18 ?

please comment

my fren, both your profiles in question are 225/45/18, so what answer are you planning to get?

FYI, the size is totally wrong and its more than the 3% ruling.

anyway its F 245/40/18 and R 275/35/18 or 265/35/18 is acceptable. (if your rims are staggered)

Bro,
I think for our rear wheel drive cars, rear tyre pressure must be higher than front for better handling and FC also. I'm on 235/45 R17 Hankook S1Evo all round, I am now running 30 front, 35 rear, OK. On full loads, I run 32 front, 37 rear. I can't go lower cause car becomes heavy. I have travelled about 30k km using the tyres, since last year, the wear looks OK and tyre seems to last pretty well. I bought the tyre if I remember correctly for like Rm420/piece, made in Korea. I would say worth it.

One thing I need help to understand, who can calculate and translate that into distance covered? Here is the explanation from the tyre size difference.

E39 standard is 225/55, R16, I use 235/45, R17. The tyre comparison site tells me I am 1.6% too fast. When my speedometer reads 100km/h, I am actually travelling 98.4km/h. So, how do I translate this into kilometer/distance covered? I service my car every 10,000km, does this mean I am actually servicing my car too soon now?

the right size for E39 should be for 18' is 235/40/18 or 235/45/18. 225 not advisable. E39s are heavy. 225s wear is faster and the tire tread will come of after some time. if you are using 225 your tire wall should be higher. 225/45/18 may be can.
