Last week, while driving heard a loud knocking sound from the engine. Before I could stop to check it totally died on me. Couldn't figure out what was the cause and no other choice had it towed to my workshop.Found out later that the seizure was caused by a stuck alternator pulley which totally jammed my engine.....knnbccb. To make matters worse, the entire engine has totally seized due to this.

Nightmare starts here, what to do next?

1) Get a used engine(enjinkosong)? But the thought of the conditions of the enjin kosong scares me.

2) Upgrade???:cool::cool:
a) 320, 323, 325, 328, ///M?????

how how how

3) Engine rebuilt? will cost more than option 1 and 2.

how how how.

well... after 2 sleepless nights. Decided to REBUILD the engine.

AND the JOURNEY BEGINS>:burnout:

Sorry to hear that Jeffrey...i think rebuilt is more costly but if done right should be less nightmare than your 2 other options. I believe that is quite a robust engine you have there.....m43?

Regards

im sorry to hear of the engine problems, but how does the above destroy the engine? if the pully seized surely the belt would snap and the ignition light would come on with the engine still running? ....catastrophic engine failiure cant come from an alternator can it?

id ask for a better diagnosis from the workshop, ie, is the oil pump still ok... dun put it all back together and still have a problem eh?

jeff ...oppssss why this happen to you larrrr ...ayoooo

upgrade larrr brother ...325 obd1 ...once and for all ....

keep the pictures coming ....

you want my M43/318 engine? I go for the m50/25 engine.

btw, it is quite strange for the engine to seized up due to the alternator pulley. Normally the belt would snap first or the belt would slipped.

A bit strange to hear that the a seized alternator pulley jammed up the engine...

Anyway, heard that M42 engine kosong can go in with minimal mod....

If it's M43, the straight plonk would be M44. :). But M42 pun boleh.

M44 using MAF and OBD2, M43 still AFM and OBD1, so M42 would be an easier conversion...

My thoughts exactly, but thinking throughly.....the jammed pulley was one of the causes. Dont forget, my engine is already 15years old. Internal parts could be worn or about to seize.

My reason for sticking to rebuilding the engine as I want to maintain the originality of my ride.

new alternator, pistons and starter
