Assuming you are in the UK, I would go ahead and get an E46 M3. £20k will find you a nice example at the moment. Thats less than RM140,000.

Then from what I understand, once the car has been in your name for at least 3 years, you can bring it back, and not have to pay much in tax (do not quote me on this tho its just what I have been told)

Assuming this is correct, then in 3-4 years, you will have a 2002/2003 M3 in Malaysia for less than RM 150,000 (at current rates). If you can sell it for at least that much, then you will have had free use of the car for 3 years, minus insurance, servicing fuel etc of course, but hey if you do it right, then I think you're onto a winner IMO

Over here, prices have been falling since the new E92 M3 was introduced because people are hurrying to ditch their E46s. This may stabilise in the next 4-6 mths, I am expecting a mint 03/04 M3 to come in at around £17k.

So far, the difficult bit is trying to confirm the import regulations, price/tax etc and shipping and the shipping's insurance costs.

I've been looking for an 03/04 model in steel grey or Carbon Black with Imola Red leather and all the right options. Might actually go for one with all spec minus the Nav/TV, just so I can put in a custom, upgradeable hifi/gps/tv/dvd solution in future.

Absidian, I am not really sure how the E92 M3 has affected prices in Malaysia, I havent lived here for 10 years and only came back from the UK a few weeks ago.

However, theres quite a big difference in price between the 2 cars as we all know, think the E92 M3 is around RM 688k(correct me if I am wrong), and the E46 M3 around the RM300k mark, so I dont think the majority of people would be in a hurry to ditch their E46's for the new M3 because of this huge price difference, unless of course they are quite well off.

Also, sorry I cant help you on import regs etc, hopefully another forum member with more knowledge will be able to help there

Yup, Teddy from SSDD is indeed a top bloke, bought stuff from him b4.

Roy at CA Automotive is also a brilliant fella, I'm always watching his progress with the supercharged Banana, but now he's onto a new project with a turbo'd M3 instead :top:
