Hi guys,
I am a newbie to the club and I would like to ask if anyone has used engine oil additives such duralube? Anyone care to share experience?

Thanks

VNP

Bro VNP... on your engine oil additive question, I would not recommend it... the best is to use a good fully syn lube that has the BMW long life accreditation... and change it every 10K km (even though BMW recommends a change every 25K km). Every bottle of lube is made up from 80% Base Oil and 20% additives (normally supplied by a additive supplier). Base on this formula the Lube company obtains accreditition/approval from the OEM i.e BMW, Merc, Volkswagen etc. Therefore if you add any additive, it would screw up the lube formulation that the initial approval was based upon...

Having said that, I must say that admittedly I have heard some good feedback from users on some engine oil additive used... I leave it to your good judgement... and WELCOME TO THE CLUB MAN! :)

i agree with silver coz usually additive will either do more harm or nothing at all (waste of money). go for a fully synthetic and change it every 10K, this will be your best bet and your engine will love u for it

Thanks Bro. Silver and Bro. Mouse for you feedback. What you said makes a lot of sense. Anyway oredi bought the product a few years back although not opened yet. Maybe I will use it for my other ride : a 323 ( Mazda lah) hahahahe!!

Hard to answer 2cents I had use it number of times don't see any diffrence and stop it, probably my engine karput already drinks engine oil too. I use semi-syn and tried one after another but used Caltex most then Shell and Projet even Castrol just to see if oil play and important role where it burns but I feel my valve seal gone thats the reason burns oil as no sign of smoke at my tail. Lattest my car is now undergoing for a top overhaul when I had starting problem lately. Should be out by Tuesday. Will try German engine oil now.

Well bro... I dun think it harms the engine in that way, otherwise I'm sure the products would not have made it on the shelves... but what I'm sure is you really dun need any additive in your engine oil, if you're using a credible fully syn oil...

There's nothing like sticking to a good fully syn oil and ensure change every 10K km! (Nothing more than 10K km!)... surely you'll have lesser headaches in the future...
