I support you Turbology... I will never use engine oil addictive after I google about SLICK50

Only addictive I believe is Bardahl 1 but paired with Bardahl Fully Syn 5-40 engine oil only. Many good comment and so far none bad comment on the net or forum

This should give you some thought:
If Bardahl full sync oil is as great as they promised or advertised, why do they have oil addictive ?
Maybe because their own Bardahl fully sync oil is not good enough ?
Or maybe their addictive is the same ingredient you found in their full sync oil ? is it just purely a marketing strategies so they can earn more ?
Does any racing team endorse their product (additive, not just oil) ?

Good point there bro...

Based on what I have learn from this thread .. I believe the best value Engine Oil for car older then 2000 is Mobil S 10w-40w as TESCO selling at RM76.90 each bottle.

Is the Mobil S 10w-40 meet ACEA A3, MB229.3, VW503.00 or LL-98 ? :)
If is not, is NOT the the best value :D

Engine Oil Top-Up

Guys,

Need your advice before my next oil change. At the moment, my console already informed me to top-up engine oil by 1 litre.

I've checked with the BMW authorised service center and based on their record previously for my oil change, they use Castrol Fully Synth 5W-30 oil.

So, I google up Castrol Malaysia and found that for Castrol Edge, they only have 5W-40 and for Castrol Edge Sport 0W-40.

My question here would be is it possible for me to just go out and buy a 1 litre Castrol Edge 5W-40 and top up on existing engine oil and must I use back 5W-30 used by BMW. If the latter, I guess I have no choice but to go and buy the 1 litre bottle from BMW service center.

Please advise.

Thanks.

On my very years of experienced, for car more than 5 years age. I will recog MOTUL (original France), its really make different. U will feel ur engine overhalled, lighter.

any of you guys ever heard and try ENEOS? please comments

Don't take the racing formula because friction reduction is paramount in its additive selection over long term engine protection, unless u are gunning for a trophy in the track.

Am planning to change oil soon. I got my E46 325i year 2001 about 5 with a M54 engine 5 months back and am not sure what grade of oil was used before?
Any suggestion on this based on your experience for a similar engine?

Appreciate it much and thanks.

Maybe u can try Shell Helix Fully Syn 5W-40 about RM100/bottle of 4lts in Tesco or Castrol Edge Fully Syn 0-40w Rm 145/bottle of 4lts. Try to consult your mechanic which grade is most suitable to your engine.
FYI i use Shell Helix 5W-40 on my engine and so far so good.

Hi guys,

From the Castrol Malaysia web site, it seems that there is :-
1) Castrol Edge 5W-40
2) Castrol Edge SPORT 0W-40

Both are fully synthentic.

Alex5522, were you referring to EDGE or EDGE SPORT when you said that it is RM 145 per 4 litres?
