:p Next schedule it's for my E46 320i double Vanos change engine lube oil. So, i want to no what are Lube oil good to change. My maind now is 1st is Petronas syntium 5000 0w30 and 2nd is castrol magnetec 10w40. So which is good and suitable for double vanos engine.Coz it's for my 1st time service. baru beli maaa..... please give me idea !!!!

I remember reading somewhere in the forum on Q8 engine oil and it is highly recommended by the members with alot of positive feedback, mayb u can do a serch on Q8

I think 5/40 or 10/40 is better bet in term of performance and protection 0/30 is too thin but good for fuel economy. Tried with my jap car is a bit noisy but give good fuel economy.
Brand is up to u there r many fully .syn with this spec in the market. My choice is not so much on th brand but the spec, i only use 5/40 or 10/40, brand can be camlube, Q8, Castrol, BP, mobil 1 but be fully syn.

 My idea is syntium 5000 0w30 is good product from petronas production but pricely and magnetec 10w40 is price reasonable also good. both product have individual advantage.
The question is which one good for double vanos engine life and depend on Malaysia whather.
Coz, i don't know what are double vanos life and charaptor. please give some commend and input.......

I heard from BMW Malaysia that they recommend the Catrol RS 10W40 for 6 cylinder engines.

Not only BMW Malaysia but BMW generally recommends Castrol TWS. I am just using what my mech recommends and there's no problems. :p

I used MOTUL ful-syn for my 328, it performs superb, tried Mobil1 but dried up too fast after a long journey, sometimes the oil colour is also diff, maybe fake ones in the market especially the one I bought from spare-part shop, it's not the original colour compared to the one I bought from Mobil petrol station.

Got fed-up of Mobil1 fake products.

I always buy my oils from the petrol station ...... have heard many horror stories about fake oils floating around in the market. But I even heard from my petrol station friend that there were two Caltex stations in Selangor that had licenses revoked because they were messing around with the engine oils and then re-sealing the containers.

I have personally come across fake NGK spark plugs and fake Focal (high end) car speakers, which you could not tell the difference, until someone pointed out what to look for.

I am paranoid these days about these things.....it appears that there is a fake for everything out there in Malaysia.

Tired of fake women too......that inflatable doll is starting to get lame.

Hrm....Magnetec ah? By Castrol? Isnt that a mineral based engine oil? Older engines ok lar but I always believe newer ones should use the fully synthetic ones. Anyway, just my humble personal opinion lar.

how to prevent from buying fake oil coz even petrol station also sometimes not 100% genuine?
