List of Good Workshops

I have been sending my car to M1 for several years.

There's Jeffrey, KC, and Raymond. I have not met anyone by the name of Joe there in all my trips there.

KC used to build engines for racing teams.

Raymond is very good w electrical systems.

Jeffrey is very wise and patient.

Among their mechanic workers, my favourite is Ah Siong. Very dedicated and skillful. Solved many of my 'noise' issues.

Definitely not the cheapest place in town (and I would not send my car to the cheapest place in town anyways.) Don't send it there if you expect the cheapest labour rates in town. But for me the place offers the best value for money in terms of experience and level of workmanship.

BTW, happy to introduce you to them personally.

Suggestion: How about having the List categorised into different areas eg.

1. Mechanic (ie. people who can fix and, where applicable, service the engine/drivetrain/gearbox, suspension, brakes, exhaust, stuff like that)

2. Electronics and electrical

3. Bodywork repairs and paint

4. Interior refurbishing

5. Aircon.

6. Wheel alignment and balancing

7. In-car entertainment

8. etc.

(subject to my caveat set out in my posting of 31st March 2006).

hi guys,

would like to suggest Bavarian Auto Works as another alternative workshop...

936A, Kg Sungai Kayu Ara,
Lebuhraya Damansara (on the left just before exit ramp to bandar utama, heading towards the tol)
Tel: 7729 7306

look for mr/mrs loke....

both are qualified mechanics... mr loke used to be with AB...

prices are reasonable and they have done fantastic jobs on my E21...

hope this info helps.

cheers ;)

How about M Roadster in Pandan Indah? any feedbacks? i heard quite good and reasonable...even a small shop..

I used to go there because of reasonable price. But i quit going there now.
i'm not implying or suggesting anything here, but after comparing notes with another e36 owner, we found out that the frequency of having to go back for some other repairs is higher. Maybe we're both unlucky. Some time after sending car for service, we experienced other problems (brake indicator on lah, radiator losing water too fast lah etc). This happened a few times to both of us.

Funnily enough, after changing workshops (i went to M1, my friend went to another elsewhere), our workshop trips lessened.

Stuttgart in Taman Mayang near Lim Kok Wing Academy pretty good, no?

And how about Karl Benz workshop near Dataran Prima?

sorry to hear about both your experiences with BAW...

maybe, its just pure bad luck/karma... i dont know...

anyway, they have done well so far in looking after my E21.... maybe, mr loke is a little more sentimental towards classics :dunno: after all the E21 was his training model when he was an apprentice with AB

cheers ;)

i have to share this in a the right place .

autochild , i think most of us heard this name the negative way hehe

but i would say this place make my car come alive..
belum cuba belum tahu .

At the moment I'm trying BMWorks at Batu Caves (Taman Industri Bolton).

The manager there is also a forumer, Hessly. So far my experience there is good. I would list the following reasons for my good experience there so far:-

1. Head mechanic - Vasu - is very competent. He knows his stuff. He is friendly and would explain things to you if you ask. He would tell you straight what needs to be changed, what can be serviced and what's worn but still is safe to be used.
2. You can also buy your own parts and get it fitted there with reasonable labour charge.
3. They will service whatever can be serviced and not just ask you to change it
4. The apperentice to Vasu is also well versed with the E30 and knows how to work instead of just lepaking around.
5. Reasonably fast turn-around ie: from when your car comes in to your car goes out.

Thanks :D

Hmmm....since theres a positive comment from bro ding & bro nikazwaa, maybe i'll pay them a visit today...changing engine oil..btw what type of engine oil they use?

Well, I bring my car to MSP Auto in Taman Mayang Industrial Estate ...behind autobacs. Service is good and reliable and prices are reasonable. Have been bringing all my cars there since 8 years ago. Look for Ah Mun or Ah Hoong. :yahoo:

I agree with DingChavez. Am happy with BMWorkshop @ Taman Industry Bolton. I have sent my car to Obermeier, BMWorld (Desa Tun Razak) and M1 (Segambut) but I find BMWorkshop value for money. Competent, friendly and willing to teach. Price wise also pretty good. Hopefully, they continue to maintain their quality in terms of technical competency and pricing.

Been at BMworks today...very warmed welcome, but dunno for how long (biasa laa kedai baru...!) met Dingchavez (ding, gua tabik lu laa...good luck with your restoration..) As Ding said, Vasu was indeed very good...(refer to Ding's comment no. 1)...I want to change my engine oil after running 5000km, but the service light still green (3 out of 5) and Vasu told me that no need to change the oil now, it still can be use untill all the green lights disappear...meaning that it still has +- 2000km life in it !...but I changed it anyway..(jauh datang bang!)
The point is...he don't have to tell me all that..isnt it? Like my previous workshop....tukar je lah..

The bill...?
Shell semi syn 85.00
Oil Filter 27.90
Upah 20.00
Upah pasang
ARB belakang 20.00

How about that?
Slightly...cheaper than Ultimate Batu Caves & BM world Desa Tun Razak..dunno about others
Hopefuly I/we still will get warm welcome for many years to come... :D :D :D :D

glad you enjoy the experiance anakin. remember you still have 38 cups of tea to go. :D oh also met vinceliew, rosa and another forumer that i completely forgot what his name (but nice guy)/ Sorry
