why is this thread not 'stickied' compared to the list of BAD workshops?
Kingrat,

you have a suggestion?

Please PM the committee or start a thread under "Comments and Suggestions".

Thank you.

just went out to check out Autochild today.. was impressed with the works they have done..

I saw one workshop BM Auto located behind BP station in Segambut. It is within a small little industrial park after Tan Chong and after the tunnel.

Try to avoid BM Auto in Segambut (behind BP). They do not have any idea what they are doing charge as though they are AB. Went there 1st two years after I bought my 3-series & even introduced my cousin there. Do not know how to explain the job done but when comes to the billing, they suddenly becomes the expert.

They scratched the bonnet of my cousin's car and when confronted, they simply deny it. Finally agreed to patch up the scratch but messed up the paint job instead.

Now we go to M1 Motor Works in Kayu Ara. Not much cheaper, but more attention given to your car and definitely more knowledgeable.

that workshop u talking abut is where Calvin Tan's place located.CT on upper lever and the workshop located downstairs.me myself agreed with bro keelow here..Casey @M1 takes the responsibility to customers' cars.the only thing is,the price is not cheap at all,but the jobs they did, they do it nicely and carefully... :nyehehe:

Actually, it might not be a good idea to state which workshop is a "good workshop". Let's say you put Workshop XYZ in the "good workshop list". Then one day Workshop XYZ screws up your car in which case you would have no cause to complain as you yourself had put Workshop XYZ in the "good workshop list"! Perhaps it would be better to rename this thread as "List of Good Workshops So Far But All Rights Reserved!" :D

OK, on my part, I would say this:

1. My car had an aircond problem. Hot air was blowing out of the aircon vents on the left half of my dashboard, whilst cold air came out from the other half's aircon vents.

2. I was quoted slightly above RM7k by a well-known establishment to fix the problem. As this was way too costly, I took my car to a renowned aircon specialist but he couldn't solve my problem. However, I had to pay for labour. The workmanship was not exactly terrific either.

3. Lee36328 then introduced me to M1 in Kayu Ara. They managed to fix my car's problem for about RM1.4k (incl. parts, consumables and labour). They were quite analytical and discovered that the source of my problem was a shred of rubber which broke off from the heater valve rubber seal and got stuck in the heater coil. The shred of rubber was extricated and the heater valve and other parts were replaced. The aircon works fine now. Workmanship was good too.

I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.

wglee, yes i think u r right, the term "good" is very subjective especially from job to job & day to day.
Usually I find that if the 'sifu' is any good, it's difficult for him to b consistent & even more frequent, leaving the job to his 'ma-chai' (apprentice) only makes things worse.

M1 in Kayu Ara looks after my car and nthey have been great for the last 100,000 kms.

That's nice to know, as I plan to try them out even more.

Then maybe you should post up your experience in the List Of Workshop Not To Go To thread....

It's funny really, because you can also find a workshop being RECOMMENDED in the NOT To Go To thread, and vice versa as in this case...

Yes, I should have, but since the question was posted here I responded to it here as well.

Gents,

am very confused, I think in a previous reply, someone gave M1 (Kayu Ara) a real good bashing. Supposedly someone by the name of Joe who works there is supposedly a "Conman". Are we all refering to the same place?

Because of the comments form a previous forummer, I have avoided going anywhere near that place. Someone even added that they have seen their workers take a customers car out to buy "take-away" during lunch break.

My office is a 5 min drive from M1 but so far I have resisted going there because of this reason. Can someone set the record straight for once, because this sounds like a Jekyl/Hyde experience.
