After reading the US BMW blogs, quickly updated my iPhone 4S to IOS6 as soon as available and noticed that I am now able to read and be notified of messages via my F30 320d's iDrive's Office. This is through connectivity through bluetooth. Not been able to connect emails yet.Has anyone been successful to get emails?

Been looking at this since the ios 6 beta version testers reported that it could be done. Been reading that you have to enable a "Show Notification" function on the iDrive for the bluetooth phone configuration. I have not found this function yet. Anyone knows about this?

This function is in the iPhone's bluetooth settings.

Have you gotten yours to work yet? ie mail and messages to appear in iDrive's office. My understanding is that the "Show notification" is an iDrive setting, would be glad to be wrong on this one as I cannot find it. I have already enabled all the required notification settings on the iphone, i.e.
Notification Center > On
Alert Style > Banner/Alert
View in LockScreen > On
Is there anything else?

Only managed the messages but not iMessage. Go to settings/bluetooth/devicename/ enable show notifications and sync contacts etc.

Glad you have yours working. I have checked and there is no "bluetooth" option under the Settings submenu. Hope you can offer some guidance.

I managed to get the SMS working too but not the emails.
Jason, try going to settings, notification and set the message alert as banner.

Done that.

But can anyone check if you have a show notification setting on the iphone. Iphone> Settings> Bluetooth (On)> Select right arrow on the BMW device name > Show notifications (On)

bro jason, did you manage to get it to work? i can get it to work on the 320d but can't seem to get it to work on a 328i loaner car... settings exactly the same...

I managed to get the SMS, email and whattsapp message today...previously I can only read SMS...haven't figure it out what setting on the iPhone that I have changed that enabled these functions....will update soon.

I'm still struggling to get it to work. One silly question though....does it work only on iPhone 4S? I am using iPhone 4 with updated iOS 6 software.

if only i can get sms and email working on my galaxy note 1 - android 4.0.4

looks like its not possible right ?

Have you figured out what you've changed to enable SMS, email and Whatsapp? I've only been able to get sms notification.

The quick and easy way to get this set up on your car is to do the following:
  • Upgrade your phone to iOS 6
  • If you have paired your phone previous, remove the pairing from your phone and the iDrive system just to start fresh.
  • In iDrive go to Telephone -> Bluetooth -> Your Phone and the push the iDrive controller to the right to get to the main configuration screen
  • Scroll down to Configure Bluetooth and make sure that the check box for "Office" is checked
  • On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Bluetooth -> Your BMW and touch the blue arrow to go to the settings. Make sure that the Show Notifications slider is set to "ON"
  • On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Notifications -> Messages. Make sure the following sections are "ON": Notification Center, Show Preview and View in Lock Screen. We also changed the alert style to Alerts in this section.
  • After getting it all set up and testing by letting the phone lock itself (not pushing the lock button) and sending a text message from another device, it still did not work for us initially. This is the part about shutting off the car and walking away for at least 5 or 10 minutes. Maybe there is a bug that needs the connection to be severed and re-connected to make things work. It is sort of a mystery right now. After coming back and having a message sent the system worked and the notifications came through to the iDrive and were read aloud by the car.

I have managed to get this working too. SMS, Whatsapp (altho no next, just from who) and email. :burnout:

ok managed to get this working on my ip4s on ios 6.0.1 using the steps i mentioned above and cool enough i get my messages read to me :)

These capacilities are only available for those using the iPhone 4S, right and not iPhone 4?
